Disney, Comcast Strike Deal For On Demand Services

Disney and cable provider Comcast have recently reached an agreement that will allow Comcast customers access to all of Disney's channels through on demand services.

The deal, announced earlier this week, will let some 22 million Comcast subscribers view such channels as the Disney Channel, ABC, and ESPN via on-demand at home or on portable electronic devices through Comcast's Xfinity services.

The agreement between the two companies marks several firsts. It is the first time Comcast will pay for retransmission of local ABC stations, and it is also the first time Disney has allowed live-streaming and on-demand versions of all of its channels.

Said Anne Sweeney, co-chair of Disney Media Networks:

This landmark deal is a great example of what can be achieved when programmers and distributors collaborate and innovate together to meet the ever-evolving needs of consumers and enhance the viewing experience.
