Disney To Enforce Ending FASTPASS Times?

The Walt Disney World rumor mill is at it again; this time, there's a rumor out here in cyberspace that says WDW will start requiring guests to use a FASTPASS within the time stated on the pass. Word has it the more strict enforcing of the FASTPASS system will start sometime next month.

As it stands right now, FASTPASS is available on certain rides and attractions throughout the resort and gives guests a way to cut down on wait times by providing an hour timeframe in which they can return to the ride or attraction. Typically, the resort has been concerned more with the first time on a guest's FASTPASS rather than the end time and has allowed guests to come back past the last stated time on the pass and still enter in the FASTPASS line. If the rumors are true, starting in March, WDW will enforce that one hour window of opportunity.

For example, say a guest nabs a FASTPASS to Soarin' for 12:05 PM - 1:05 PM. Usually, a guest could come back anytime after 12:05 PM to present the FASTPASS and enjoy a shorter wait time - even 7 PM. If the new rumor proves to be true, the guest in the example would have to use the FASTPASS by 1:05 PM (though there has also been talk of a fifteen minute "grace period.")

The speculation as to the reason behind the change is to make way for a new, Next Generation FASTPASS which would give guests the opportunity to grab FASTPASSES from home and/or their Disney resort room.

As we mentioned, this is all up in the air with no real roots at this point; if, at some time in the future, Disney does decide to update or change their FASTPASS policy, we'll keep you informed.

i for one don't have a problem with this. I was surprised they didn't already do this. We always tried to go within an hour time frame, but often, the line for fast pass would be longer than stand by. Probably because everyone comes back when ever they want.

I come back at the time my ticket tells me too, so this isn't a big deal for me.
