Disney Helps UNICEF Share the Importance of Play with $1 Million Grant

As "grown ups" we all know the importance of play in our lives. It rejuvenates, revives, and helps us explore worlds of wonder through creativity lifting both our minds and spirits. For those of us who frequent this site, we know that Disney is a leader in allowing adults and children to spend time playing in incredible environments. Not every child is so lucky though, and with Disney's support, UNICEF is helping to bring the magic of play to kids who need it most.

The P.L.A.Y. initiative is a pilot program created by UNICEF and supported by a $1-million founding grant from The Disney Company. With it's first Imagination Playgrounds launching in Haiti and Bangladesh, P.L.A.Y. has reached over 10,000 children living in disaster-recovery conditions and extreme poverty with 30 portable playground. Watch this moving video to find out more about P.L.A.Y.

Children learn through play!!! This is just another reason why I love Disney!!! Next time someone asks why I go so much this will be on my answer list. Probably at the top since I work with children and our philosophy ties right in with what unicef is doing.
