Disney fans will sometimes banter about the joke that Disney is home to the world's largest inland Navy. While that's not technically true (Disney's vessels are not armed) it certainly has an impressive fleet! From paddle boats to pontoons, viking longships to pirate ships, and sea raycers to grand yachts if you love to be on the water the Vacation Kingdom of the World has something to make you smile. This flotilla of fabulosity is one of my favorite things to write about, so come along with us now for a look back at the boats of Walt Disney World.
Sail Away at Walt Disney World - The Top 10 Boat Rides
In the midst of the hustle and bustle sometimes you just want to sit down, relax and take a boat ride. Though be careful which one of those voyages you get one, because some of Disney's boats will take you a thrilling adventure! This top 10 list has the boat rides at Walt Disney World, so put on your life vest and keep your hands and arms inside the boat at all times.
Hiring Boat at Walt Disney World
Our friends Robyn and Simon broke down the fun you can have by renting a boat on Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon. Renting a pontoon boat at one of Disney's many marinas is wonderful way to spend the afternoon on the water to escape the crowds.
If you want a luxury splurge you can even hire than magnificent Grand 1 Yacht.
The Boathouse Vintage Collection
One of the most impressive collection of vintage boats in the entire country head to The Boathouse at Disney Springs to peruse their 300-foot dockside museum. This multi-million dollar fleet of 19 rare boats makes up "the largest collection of fully restored Dream Boats from the 30's, 40's, and 50's including classic Chris-Crafts, and a one of a kind jet boat that once reached speeds of over 200mph." This is also the place to take a ride on a vintage Italian water taxi or the unique amphicars!
The Friendship Boats: A Different Kind of Disney Cruise
If you have ever found yourself on one side of World Showcase wishing you could get to the other side quickly and rest your weary feet at the same time, you have probably hopped on a Friendship Boat. These water taxis are not only a great way to travel around World Showcase, but outside of International Gateway "friendships" await to take you to Epcot area resorts as well as Disney's Hollywood Studios.
You may even come across the occasional shipwreck! There are so many fun Disney boats and boat rides all across the property I still have many more to cover.
I hope you've enjoyed this look back at our previous articles covering the many boats of Walt Disney World. Don't forget to click the links within the text to get more details on each part of the fleet!
