Gracey In Talks to Direct Disney's 'Order of the Seven'

Snow White, the classic heroine from Disney's 1937 animated film, is popular these days with no less than three re-tellings of the story set to hit the big screen in the next few years. Disney itself is also gearing up for a live action version of the story of Snow White, and is talks with a potential director.

Michael Gracey currently is in negotations to direct Disney's The Order of the Seven, a film previously known as Snow and the Seven. Gracey is best known for his work as an animator on the film Happy Feet, and also has the distinction of having a Guinness World Record for the most-watched online ad.

Gracey, after reaching a deal, will soon be at work storyboarding the film using a script penned by Toy Story 3 screenwriter Michael Arndt. Andrew Gunn is lined up to produce the film.

The Order of the Seven will have some competition in the Snow White movie arena. Universal is in the process of making Snow White and the Huntsman for release in June of 2012. It will star Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron. A darker version of the tale is being filmed by Relativity studio. This yet-to-be-titled feature will star Julia Roberts, Sean Bean, Armie Hammer and Lily Collins and is set to hit theaters in March 2012.

Look for Disney's updated version to start production sometime next year and roll into theaters in 2013.
