Independence Day Offerings at Walt Disney World

It wouldn't be Independence Day without fireworks, and Disney's certainly got those covered this year. For those of you lucky enough to be in and around Walt Disney World on the 4th of July, here's a look at what Mickey and company are planning to help celebrate.

Magic Kingdom will be showing its "Disney's Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky" twice: July 3 and 4. This patriotic take on fireworks will light the up the night both dates at 9 p.m.

Disney's Hollywood Studios also will be offering its take on 4th of July fireworks with its "Rockin' 4th of July Celebration." This "all-new" show will feature "resident landscapers with serious rock and roll ambitions" Mulch, Sweat and Shears. The celebration will highlight the contribution to rock music each region in America has made and will include special effects and fireworks. Showtime is set for 9:45 p.m. You might also want to check out the park's Fantasmic! performance at 9 p.m. that night as well.

Over at Epcot, its nightly "IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth" will take place over the World Showcase lagoon. The July 4th show will be infused with "The Heartbeat of Freedom," a series of Americana themes coupled with laserlight and pyrotechnics. Look for "IllumiNations" to start at 10 p.m.

Also in Epcot, guests can take in the "Voices of Liberty 4th of July Concert" at American Adventure and also catch up with Benjamin Franklin, Betsy Ross and favorite Disney characters decked out in patriotic garb.

At this time, theme park hours for the 4th of July are as follows:

  • Magic Kingdom: 9 a.m.-11 p.m.
  • Epcot: 9 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • Disney's Hollywood Studios: 9 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • Disney's Animal Kingdom: 8 a.m.-7 p.m.

Of course, all hours are subject to change without notice.

One of these days I'll get to spend my birthday (July 3rd) on the beach at the Polynesian. :-) Not this year though.
