Mermaids Swim Into Pirates of the Caribbean Debut

Pirates of the Caribbean, that famous attraction within Walt Disney World, has seen its share of movie-inspired updates throughout more recent years, and that trend continues with the recent debut of the Mermaids of Whitecap Bay (from "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides").

For those of you heading out to take in the ride, you'll find the mermaids in the grotto scene. Look closely, and you can spy a mermaid skeleton; you may even see one swimming near your boat. Also, listen closely and you can catch the siren song of a mermaid just before you're plunged into the pirate battle scene.

In addition to the new mermaid presence, you might notice the attraction's Dead Man's Cove scene has some new rockwork and props.

We saw it when we were there 2 weeks ago. Didn't see the mermaid swimming by the boat though. Did hear the song!
