Test Track Closed For Refurbishment

We first brought you the news of the planned refurbishment of the GM Test Track in Epcot back in January. The Future World attraction officially closed April 16 and is anticipated to reopen this fall with a new name: Test Track Presented by Chevrolet.

When the attraction opens again, guests will have the opportunity to create "custom concept vehicles" at various interactive workstations in the "Chevrolet Design Center at Epcot." In addition, guests can then put their car designs to the test in the "SimCar" ride experience. Also included in the new re-imagined attraction will be a state-of-the-art showroom that will showcase the latest in Chevrolet vehicles.

With Test Track closed, Disney is offering up some additional experiences in their entertainment schedule at Epcot. Watch for the Test Track Allstars, an a cappella group, to perform daily near the Test Trace pavilion. Disney also plans on having the Epcot Character Spot as well as the ever-popular Soarin' and all other offerings in The Land remain open until 10 PM on a trial basis.

Test track is closing for refub? Bummer!

However, I am a total nerd for The Land, so having that open for guests will be cool, if not a perfect replacement.

Oh, thanks for the info about The Land - I was not aware of that.

General Motors Co. and Walt Disney have joined into a multi-year alliance that should result in numerous rides and attractions that draw Walt Disney World visitors into the full automotive experience, from design and production to the joy of hitting the open road. The GM Test Track gives park patrons a unique look into exactly what automotive design engineers go through when they make and test new vehicle designs. This includes tests on difficult, winding roads with hairpin turns, rough roads and more. I found this here: GM Test Track redesign debuts at Disney World Dec. 6

Well, actually, so glad to know that people were so busy looking for new and unique ways of making our life more beautiful to live. Best luck to your partnership! ;)
