The list of the World's Most Respected Companies has been compiled by Barron's since 2005 and it features 100 companies. The companies are selected based on their total stock market capitalization and then investors are surveyed about each company.

The investors are also asked to rank factors they consider when determining corporate respect and select one of four statements that reflect how they feel about each company: Highly Respect, Respect, Respect Somewhat, or Don't Respect. Those responding to the survey also have the option to comment about individual companies.

While Disney has ranked in the top 10 for the last five years, the company was ranked number 76 back in 2005.

Apple was ranked number one in this year's survey.
