Disney Parks VoluntEARS Help with Back-to-School Drives

It's back-to-school time and recently Disney Parks VoluntEARS and cast members partnered with local organizations to support back-to-school fundraisers and to collect and distribute school supplies around the country.

Disney Extra Credit Magazine Covers Education and the Performing Arts

The second edition of Disney Extra Credit Magazine recently debuted, just in time for back-to-school.

The publication from Disney Youth Programs is designed for educators and students and covers topics in performing arts and education.

The new issue features stories by Joe Rohde, Senior Vice President and Creative Executive for Walt Disney Imagineering, and Thomas Schumacher, Producer and President of Walt Disney Theatrical.

Cast Members Donate 3.1 Million School Supplies

Walt Disney World cast members were busy earlier this month with a back-to-school supply drive to raise supplies for low-income families in central Florida. Their efforts were a success with over 3 million items, including some 13,000 backpacks, collected. In fact, the amount of pencils, erasers, crayons, rulers and the like collected by the cast members over a three-week period was enough to fill five school buses.

The school supplies will help fill a growing need, acording to Orange County superintendent Barbara Jenkins:
