The Walt Disney Company Reports Fourth Quarter and Year-End Earnings for Fiscal 2014

The Walt Disney Company has released its fiscal year 2014 fourth quarter and year-end earnings and the report showed an 8 percent increase in revenue to a record $48.8 billion and a 22 percent increase in income to a record $47.5 billion.

Disney’s ‘Frozen’ Named Best Animated Featured at 41st Annual Annie Awards

Earlier this month Disney's animated hit film Frozen took top honors at the 41st Annual Annie Awards when it was named Best Animated Feature.

The Annie Awards honor excellence and individual achievement in 30 categories including best feature, production, design, character animation, effects animation, writing, music, storyboarding, editing, and voice acting.

The awards are often considered a predictor for which film will win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

The Walt Disney Company Releases First Quarter Earnings Report

Thanks to a hammer wielding god and a queen with an icy touch, The Walt Disney Company reported a 33 percent increase in profits for the 2014 fiscal year first quarter.

Walt Disney Studios reported a 75 percent increase in operating income to $409 million which was due to the success of Marvel's Thor: The Dark World and the monstrous hit Frozen. Thor earned $633.1 million in global box office sales, while Frozen is on track to earn $1 billion in global ticket sales.

Disney Scores Eight Academy Award Nominations

The Walt Disney Studios has earned eight Academy Award nominations including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.

Early Oscar favorites Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson did not receive nominations for their roles at Walt Disney and P.L. Travers, and Saving Mr. Banks was shut out of the Best Picture category. The film did get nominated for Best Original Score.

‘Monsters University’ Inspires Fashion Created by Student Designers

Disney Consumer Products has partnered with the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles to create a sportswear collection based on characters from Disney/Pixar's Monsters University.

The college offers students more than a dozen programs including Fashion Design, Toy Design, and Fine Arts. The partnership with Disney Consumer Products was a chance for students to have one-of-a-kind creative experience bringing designs based on Mike, Sulley, and Art to life.

Walt Disney World Resort will kick off a Monstrous Summer by keeping three theme parks open for 24 nonstop hours on Memorial Day Weekend. The Magic Kingdom Park in Florida and Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park will be open to guests from 6 a.m. local, May 24 to 6 a.m. local May 25, 2013.
