AK/AKL Dining Question!

If I'm at Animal Kingdom all day, then take a bus over to Animal Kingdom LODGE for dinner @ Boma at like 7pm, how would I get back to my resort at BWI? AK will be closed by the time we finish dinner...are buses still going to be running to get back to the BoardWalk area?

Thanks! mickey

Busses will still be running, but unfortunately they don't go from resort to resort. So what you'll typically do is go to another park or Downtown Disney via bus, then take another bus back to your resort. (Or take a cab, which is probably what I'd do).

Yeah... Your best bet is to go to Downtown Disney since its opened the latest, OR head to a park with late magic hours. Buses will stop running 1 hour AFTER the specific park closes. So you may have to leave AK earlier if it closes at 6pm. Just depends. But just remember... if you would rather go to a park to head back to your resort... they run an hour after the park closes, and even the bus drivers don't recommend going to a park after it closes... so my vote would be DTD.

Or you can take a bus to say either Epcot or HS and take the boat over to Board Walk.... the boats run 2 hours after the park closes if I remember... AND I think its an easy walk from HS to BW. But I can't remember that one.... but I know w you can walk there from either Epcot and HS.

This is actually not a bad idea with Epcot & Boardwalk. Just take the bus to Epcot and then walk to the Boardwalk. Epcot is considerably closer than HS I believe.

The only problem is you have to walk through Epcot, then head right through a couple countries... yeah... that shouldn't be to bad. The idea sounds far... but thinking about it and trying to visualize it it seems good. And yeah... I think Epcot is closer as well.

It's a pretty decent walk I think, but probably quicker than waiting for the 2nd bus. (I'm not a bus expert though)

And also it will only work if you have a park hopper... about forgot about that. Would hate for you to get over there and wouldn't be able to get in if you didn't have the park hopper laugh

So that's good, take the Epcot bus if you have a park hopper or the Hollywood Studios bus if you don't! Or, if you hate standing around, just take whichever bus comes first. I've had some really fun adventures doing that!

Would love to hear about some of those adventures J.P.! I've never been so spontaneous as to take whatever bus comes first! mickey

Re the question above, if you're eating at 7pm, you'll probably end up at Epcot during Illuminations if you take an Epcot bus, which could be fun...or unbelievably crowded and annoying... depending on how you look at things! Smile Also, DHS often closes before nine during the slower months, so be sure to check the closing times for the parks before picking a bus.

Personally, I'm with Brad -- I'd just take a cab back to BWI!

I would take the bus to DTD its a quick little ride and then get on your bus to BWI. But my husband is like J.P. He hates to wait at a bus stop so we frequently jump on the first bus to show up.

DTD is about a 30 - 40 minute bus ride from AKL so keep in mind it's not going to be a quick trip back to your resort. I'd be inclined to stil take the DTD bus, have a wander around DTD, then continue on to your resort.

If you do go to DTD, keep this in mind, the bus to the Boardwalk is not direct. These are the stops it made when my friends and I were heading to Epcot from DTD. From the Marketplace, it stopped at Westside, then the waterparks, the Dolphin and Swan and the Beach Club (this is where we got off of the bus and then walked to the International Gateway). After that it was to the Yacht Club and then the Boardwalk. Maybe the Yacht Club before the Beach Club, I can't remember for sure.

I love doing this! We do this sometimes when we have somewhere to go but do not really care how we get there. Nothing really exciting happens though...we just eat at one place over another..but like others have said the bus to Epcot or Dtd is your best bet if you do not want to cab it. I would probably do dtd and shop for a little while then hit my up my bus.
