Anyone had a rain out?

I thought the thread about rain vs. heat was interesting. Has anyone ever had a vacation that was practically rained out? We've had some bad rains, but we still managed to have a good time. I know some friends who have hurricane stories though.

I can't say that we have ever been rained out BUT we have almost been snowed out a couple of times due to blizzards socking in the NorthEast on the day we were leaving for WDW fortunately our flights were not cancelled but we did encounter a lengthy delay in leaving and twice our return flight FROM WDW was cancelled so we had to actually stay extra days. Once one day and once two days clapping Also I should say that in those instances Disney was very accomodating.

Was Disney able to refund some of the extra days, Vettelover? I guess it's not really their fault if the weather is bad....but I can hope!

We were never too late to be charged for the day without being there for at least part of the day. I hope you get what I am trying to say!! as for being "stranded" because of blizzards in New England, we were AT the airport when we found out about the flight cancellation, so we went to the Disney souvenir store at the airport and they actually called WDW for us and told them of our problem and Disney talked to us and said that in the first instance we could actually have our SAME room back at the All Star movies resort. In the second cancellation we did the same thing (again we were AT the airport) and they said our room, this time at Pop was already gone but they gave us another room at Pop for 2 days this time. Yeah it was a HUGE storm!! They did charge us for the extra days but hey it was my pleasure to be stranded in WDW yay I actually had travel insurance that would have compensated me for it but we were so happy to stay later that I never put in a claim.

Stranded in WDW...sigh...what a horrible predicament! Wink I'm glad to hear WDW was so great.

We once tried to get a room for an extra night and disney was !Completely booked! All that was available was a really expensive suite somewhere!

^^^^ Admin: one thing that really helped us out getting a room in those instances I think, was that A: It was a "slow" time of the year (Jan. & Feb.) and B: we figured that since we could not get "out", probably others could not get "in" so they might have had a few room openings..

No hurricane stories here, but we have had a couple of trips that were ALL rain. Every single day. And not just those little afternoon showers that Florida always gets. I think I should get a discount on those trips mickey

We've been there for a couple tropical storms, but no hurricanes. On those trips it did rain CONSTANTLY and there were a lot of parade, stage show, and fireworks delays and/or cancellations but it didn't ruin the trip really.

The worst experience we had was BOTH at a Pirate and Princess Party and also a MNSSHP. It was raining, lightening, and thundering SO badly that EVERYTHING was effected. No outside character experiences, the outside candy stations were all gone, only one parade ran, the stage shows were cancelled, and everyone was under heavy rain gear and umbrellas so costumes were a wash. It was BAD! Now everytime I buy party tickets I fear this kind of weather.

Having a party ruined is the worst. I love those things and you usually only get one in your trip. If a day at the park is ruined, no biggie, but your party...
