AoA or AKL?

DH and I are taking a short anniversary trip this coming October and we're having a hard time deciding which resort to stay at: Art of Animation or Animal Kingdom Lodge?? AoA looks like it's going to be super cute, we've never stayed at a value resort before and probably wouldn't very often if at all again, and it's going to be brand spankin new! Same deal with AKL though, we've never stayed at a Deluxe resort and being that this is going to be a short 3 night trip it wouldn't bust the budget to stay there. We don't know what to do, any suggestions??

AKL is amazing! Its our DVC Home. Its so hard for me to not recommend it. Just so many things to do there. Has some of the best restaurants. Excellent pool. And of course the main attraction... having a chance to have a balcony view of a Savannah!

I agree with Mase! AKL is beautiful and has amazing restaurants for a nice date. Since it's an anniversary trip, it will be a great atmosphere for you. AoA does not scream romance.

AKL No Doubt! It's also my DVC Home and I love it! There's so much to do there, great food, great places to relax, beautiful rooms and fantastic views! AKL... Do it!

If you have the chance to stay in a Deluxe resort - DO!!!!!!! You will not be disappointed! You will be spoiled beyond belief!

For a shorter trip like that and if you can, definitely AKL!

Wow, ok!! laugh I'm thinking we're going to have to try AKL Savannah View! I just hope I don't get *too* spoiled and can handle going back to our "Home" Moderate resort afterward! wink

I agree with AKL. I see two main problems with AoA. The first is that you will be only getting a room. The only hotel room in the resort are in the building farthest away from the food court and the bus stop. Secondly with so many suites it going to be a favorite of large families. I have a feeling that out of all the resort it will have the highest concentration of kids. While you expect kids at Disney I think for an anniversary trip you will want the more quiet romantic setting of AKL.

We've stayed at 2 Deluxe resorts but never get tired of our favorite "Moderate" Port Orleans!

AOA would probably be better if you had children....I'm interested in it as well but we will probably always stay at AKL. And if you have the chance to go to AKL you should always do it at least once. But I would definatly go and walk around AOA while you are there just to see it.

Yeah, unfortunately DH and I can't have children so we've avoided the values since A: We don't have children for them to really get into the themeing and B: We don't have children and relish more quiet resorts. So I think you guys are right about us trying AKL for this trip. Maybe someday we'll either give in a try a value due to finances or just for fun OR maybe by some miracle we'll have children and take them there! mickey But this time we'll take a nice romantic trip! Thanks for all your help!
