Boardwalk

Has anyone ever been to the boardwalk? I think that's what its called, you pass it when you take the boat from Epcot to Hollywood Studios. We saw it for the first time last trip and was thinking about me and hubby going there next time with no children.

We have stayed in both the Boardwalk and the Beach & Yacht clubs which are the resorts that are on there and we go there all the time. It has a bunch of our favorite stuff:

Beaches & Cream - One of my favorite places in all of WDW. It's in the Beach Club and it's AWESOME (at least if you like bugers, hot dogs or ice cream, not sure about veggie options).
ESPN Club - I know it's cheesy but I really like the food there.
Yachtsman Steakhouse - Expensive but pretty good steak in the Yacht Club.

There are some entertainers who do acts out on the Boardwalk in the evenings. Many people love Jellyroll's too which is a dueling piano bar. I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting some good stuff too.

Really? This is news to me.

I am making a point to plan some time that Andy and I can go spend there. We will actually go there twice cause I am planning a dinner at Kouzzina too.

The boardwalk is fun, but I never go out of my way to go there, but if you've never been it's worth a trip.

SURPRISE!! Hee hee...

We usually arrive at WDW late in the afternoon, so after we check in to our room, we first go to the boardwalk to walk around it, and then to DTD. I love the atmosphere and it makes the start of the trip magical. It's a greatcasual reminder of where we are Smile

Another really good restaurant to try is the Flying Fish near Kouzzinas, Flying Fish great for seafood lovers as well as steak afficienados. If you get a chance and there is only one person or a couple, try to get a seat at the kitchen preparation bar. DW and I did and it was GREAT, you can talk to the chefs and sous chefs. You can SOMETIMES get a seat at the bar even without an ADR.

Whatever Jeff says... we shall do. If he says we have to go with Monkeys dressed as clowns. We shall make it happen.

BWV is our home resort, so we are there 2-3 times/yr. Where to begin?

1. Ten minute walk from your room to Epcot WS. If you need a break from Epcot, exit between UK and France via International Gateway. Walk(5 minutes) or take boat to check out the Boardwalk.

2. Kouzzina has an excellent breakfast, waffles, pancake, or platter. ESPN is a great place to watch a game. Love the fries and dingers. TV's in the restrooms. Seashore Sweets for ice cream, cookies, and candy. Boardwalk Bakery for desserts and sandwiches.

3. Great room location for signature dinners. Flying Fish on site. Swan/Dolphin restaurants are 5 minute walk away; Kimonos(sushi), Il Mulino(Italian), Shula's(steak), and Bluezoo(fish). Yachtsman(steak) is walking distance as well. Bluezoo and Il Mulino are our favorites.....(going to Shula's in October). Had dinner at Kouzzina last trip, but after going to Bluezoo and Il Mulino. Not bad, but no comparison in terms of food and service. Wish we had gone there first.

4. Bill is our favorite Boardwalk entertainer. After Illuminations we usually grab a table on the Boardwalk and order beers from Boardwalk Pizza Window before we retire for the evening. Pizza is not great, but not bad if really hungry.

5. Jellyrolls is a lot of fun. Our favorites are Scotty and Ray. Scotty does a great impersonation of Kermit/Rainbow Connection. $10 cover/no smoking

In May we are dining at Il Mulino, Yachtsman, Flying Fish, and Bluezoo. Walk to dinner, no bus. Can't wait to get back there!!

Thanks for posting this. I was wondering about a cover cause I think it could be something fun for Andy and I on our anniversary. I really like dueling piano bars.

Awesome detail! The Boardwalk is one of our favorite "walkaround" places - when we aren't going to the parks, but just decide to spend an afternoon on property to soak up the magic. I'm with Jeff - I love the atmosphere. I've always wanted to stay there.

There's lots of stuff we love on the Boardwalk, but we don't usually just "hang out" there.

I'll just jump in to reiterate that there's lots to do there! I haven't gotten to try Kouzzina yet, so if you go tell me how it is!

I don't get the sense that you have much "hang out" time mickey Seriously, I love to go to the Boardwalk JUST to look at the flowers. DTD too. I love the container gardens.

How late does everything stay open there, we are thinking about a walk around after the 830 showing of Fantasmic, adn then would catch the bus back to POP.

I got this from our friends over at Allears.net:

HOURS OF OPERATION vary according to individual locations and seasons, but most shops are generally open until 11 p.m.

More info here:

http://allears.net/btp/brdwlk.htm

We love to stroll the boardwalk at night and check out the entertainment and people.

I agree with DD. I think it's much more lively and entertaining than DTD.

There's definitely not as much to do on the Boardwalk, but it's much more relaxing. We like to just sit on benches for example.
