Bygone Songs

I wasn't sure where else this went...

I was saying in the "What do you avoid in WDW" thread that I miss the old song in Universe of Energy. This got me thinking - what old attraction music do you miss?

I miss a lot of the old songs from Epcot - Tomorrow's Child, Making Memories and the Imagination song, the Horizons song...all of that music just SCREAMED Epcot to me, and I feel Future World is really lacking without all that. None of the attractions in FW really have any music that is as memorable as the music from 20 years ago...

I couldn't agree more. I never got the chance to hear the Epcot music in person, but I actually listen to the recordings for fun. I think part of it is anything that smells like the 80s works for me. Especially what we thought the future sounded like in the 80s.

I remember all the songs - they're a part of my childhood. Growing up, world showcase was always kind of the "parent" thing (except for the good meals), but Future World was awesome. I remember singing the Imagination song over and over as a kid, and I remember LOVING Tomorrow's Child as you go through the top of Spaceship Earth.

I've always been glad that they kept the whole Br'er Rabbit/Song of the South theme and music in Splash Mountain, even if they won't admit there was a movie. Reminds me of seeing it when I was young since I'm not allowed to buy it on DVD.

I hope everyone knows that you can get a CD with all those long-gone tunes.

The music that I missed the most is the original "Tapestry of Nations" music. To me, that is the best Disney music that I've ever listened to. And I'm so glad that I bought the CD before they ruined it with Tapestry of Dreams.

Everything I think of is from Epcot. I guess it's the only park that's been around long enough to have changed a lot, but not long enough to be as static as the Magic Kingdom.

Was there any music in the Backstage Tour that isn't used any more? I seem to remember some fanfares/exciting movie music always being played that seems to be lacking any more.....maybe I'm wrong..

What Backstage Tour are you referring to, TD?

I'm with you on the Epcot music. My brother and I used to ride the 24 hours home to Buffalo listening to the Epcot tape in the car. We were absolutely enamoured with Golden Dream, Tomorrow's Child, Listen to the Land, and all the others. Universe of Energy had such a power to it!!

What was the CD called? Is it just "TApestry of Nations Music?" I have a friend who's a Disney music fiend and I'm not sure he has that one. Maybe I can find it on ebay.

The CD is deceivingly similar to the one they are selling now, except for the song listing at the back which explicitly mentioned "Tapestry of Dreams". This is the CD that you want, which only has Tapestry of Nations.

Tapestry of Nations is the BEST Disney music that I've ever heard.

BTW, speaking of good Disney CD, I hope everyone bought the Animal Kingdom CD. This too, has some of best music on the CD that Disney has ever produced.

These two, along with "Mannheim Steamroller Meets the Mouse", are my most favorite Disney CDs.

Manheim Steamroller Meets the Mouse! I keep forgetting to go check that out. I love both the components!

Kitchen Kabaret was another lost Epcot gem.
