CFO/CEO Swap?

I was reading about the CEO/CFO swap at Disney and I was curious if anyone had a better understanding of it than I did. That's really not something you see commonly in companies.

I have NO idea what's going on. It's the strangest thing -- fire a bunch of your top execs, play musical chairs with the rest. Seems very strange to me. I'm interested in if/how the company will change.

I found this a bit curious when I read it recently too. I guess we'll wait and see how things turn out. Upper management in many companies, small and large, make strange decisions all the time. Why should that of Disney be any different.

On a side note, I know many Disney Parks enthusiasts who won't be sad to see Rasulo give up the reins.

I was interested in your input on this one, Andrew. What are the complaints about Rasulo?

What I hear most is that his financial background really limits his vision; that he doesn't have the imagination and creativity it would take to fulfill the role he's been in for a while now. The recent swap would suggest that maybe these critics are on to something.

In Rasulo's defense, many groundbreaking attractions and major renovations have occured under his watch. In fact it was Rasulo who officially announced the WDW Fantasyland renovation at the D23 Convention. He also oversees the DCL, and the expansions there have been well documented as of late.

How much pull/idea power do you think the CEO has at any given time? I wonder how many ideas come from the lower levels...
