Controversial Auction Scene for Pirates of the Caribbean Debuts at Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris has debuted its new scenes on Pirates of the Caribbean. This includes the new, and controversial, auction scene that will be coming to the Magic Kingdom ride in 2018.

Frankly, I find the redo a little boring. I feel like it's taken a scene that had a focal point and purpose, and has watered it down. For something that was causing so much controversy, you would think it would have a little more spark. I was on the fence, leaning towards excited, about the redhead's new role and this seems like a bit of a let down to me.

What are your thoughts?

What do I think? I think political correctness went overboard a long time ago. One of the things I've always liked about Europe is that they tend not to get all fired up about stupid things like this. Their ads for example are not dumbed down to a 4 year old's level as is the case here. On this side of the pond, if you so much as look at someone, they get all offended.

I'd definitely leave the scene in because it's the TRUTH.

According to the LA Times there were actually protests during the Pirates of the Caribbean Panel at D23.
Fans stood up and started chanting "We wants the redhead." laugh

I've seen video from Paris and I like it. Don't love it, though, and would not care if they changed their minds and left WDW's Pirates alone.

Now, I would be incredibly enthusiastic if they decided to redo our Pirates like Shanghai Disneyland's. I just checked out some YouTube videos from over there since our own DisneyDee is there right now, and OMG!

mickey Last Ride for the Auction Scene at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom!

Sunday February 25th, 2018 will be the last day will be current auction scene at the Magic Kingdom's Pirate of the Caribbean attraction. If everything with the refurbishment goes smoothly, the attraction is expected to re-open with the more "PC" scene in place March 19. As with all things Disney, dates are subject to change.

But that's not the point, she won't be in the auction.

I missed riding it on my last trip. I wanted to ride it one last time before it closed for the refurb. Time was not my friend this trip.
