Dance Hall on Boardwalk

So has anyone ever set foot in the "Dance Hall" on the Boardwalk?

I've looked in the door once...I wasn't sure if it was open or if it was just something for special events...

I THINK I went in there once...like five years ago...to see what it was. I think it's one of those places that might be fun when it's full, but is just plain sad when it's not.

I was just there this past Sept. 3rd. They use it to host the DVC Members Welcome Wednesday. Such events are hosted almost every Wednesday for DVC members and their friends/family.

They have games and random drawings for prizes. In fact, everyone who attended got this (cheap) DVC sack which, in some ways, is convenient to carry small, light items.

Last time I was there, they had a Jeopardy-type contest among 4 randomly-selected guests on Disney/DVC trivia. Everyone who played it won something. Even the audience won something by answering a question that the contestants couldn't answer.

Oh, they also served refreshments and snacks. It was a nice break from Epcot, especially when it was very hot and humid.

Are there lots of people that attend? I've always wondered about these things when I stay at the Villas and see signs about them.

I suppose it depends on what time of the year. During the holiday season, it can be quite pack. When I was there (Sept. 3rd), I'd say the place was about 1/2 to 3/4 full.

It's a fun meet. You get the chance to win something. At the very least, you get free drinks and snacks. Smile

They may need to promote that place more. I seriously always thought it was mainly saved for special occasions or something. Of course I tend to go at off-peak times.

I've seen the door partway open and it seemed like there was something going on inside, however I never actually SAW anyone walk in and out. Maybe its a trap to catch unsuspecting Disneyphiles?

Ah yes...wedding reception. I forgot that Disney has another whole industry--or 10--behind the typical "tourism."
