Disney Infinity

Has anyone been following the new Disney Infinity Game that's set to come out? I heard last week that it's been postponed for an additional two months. Are you looking forward to this? Do you have Skylanders now?

Oh, darn! My fiance told me about it--he's really into games and though he doesn't have Skylanders (always thought it seemed a little too kiddie) he knows I love Disney so much that it might be a good way to get me into playing games. It's too bad it's been postponed!!

Looks like it could be an exciting game to get into, especially in DW gets involved. Move over Black Ops2.

My husband and I were at GameStop yesterday so that he could put a deposit down on Defiance, and the sales clerk was TOTALLY pushing me to pre-order Infinity. He was telling me all about how amazing it would be, but I didn't do it. I guess I just don't have a good grasp on what exactly it is.

Infinity is the first game in a long time that I've been excited over. The idea of crossing various characters from Disney and Pixar is such a brilliant idea for a game!
The 'sandbox' approach I hope will be the big draw. I'm hearing talk that it's like a cross between Pokemon and Grand Theft Auto (for playing style - not content obviously).
The only downside is going to be the cost - the add ons aren't cheap, and you need certain combinations to make them work.
But hey - we all know we'll buy em all laugh
I'm hearing rumours that it will be expanded into marvel and Star Wars as well - now THAT'S exciting!

Wonder if they'll do park exclusive packs?? Seems to good a merchandising opportunity!

That would be way cool - you could be Madame Leota from Haunted Mansion - or the Head Salesman of the Jungle Cruise - Maybe Figment!

My son is so excited! We went to a VIP sale at SAMs club last night and bought the villians and sidekick character add ons for half price. We are getting the game next weekend! It is really fascinating how sophisticated the set up for this game is. They are also coming out with editions for the ipad and computer in October.

It's seems to me like the Disney version of Skylanders, which felt like cheating to me. If Disney had been the first to come out with this concept, I think I would have been super excited, because it was something new and truly inventive.

But, sadly, I feel like Disney just copycatted the Skylanders concept: you get a dude, you put him on a portal, and now you get to be that dude in the game. Genius! Such a cool concept! But, it's been done, so I can't get overly excited about it. Which makes me sad, because I really WANT to be all in!

The game itself looks pretty sweet. But does anyone else think the characters are WAY over priced? Pokemon is coming out with something not so similar... but you can buy those characters for 3 bucks each. So im on the fence. Its already hard enough to keep up with game these days because of downloadable content.... so add that... add the characters..... ehhhhhhhh. I know Disneys game company has lost TONS of money.... but geeze.... this is crazy.

I'm with Mase on this one. The game looks cool and I'm sure it's going to be hours of fun,but I looked at the price of it, PS57 for the game and PS12 for each addition characters or PS27 for the 3pks. Could get expensive if you take it seriously. Although, I think that's missing the point of it.

Just used my magic band to create the dragons gate. Which when used with Tangled's lantern chip makes a firebreathing dragon fly around in the Toy Box mode.

I know it's a pricey game but WOW! Is that dragon cool! It's like the one they had fly over WDW the one time. Apparently if I go to sparks mode I can zoom in on the dragon.

I am also trading discs with people from FB. I'm not a seller, I've traded for vinyl stickers, a bank and now I'm trading for some princess clips made by hand. You don't have to have all of the characters or discs to play or enjoy the game.

We just preordered Jack, the Toy Story group, and the limited edition Woody. My boys love this game. Even their friends played this game all weekend. We love that you can stack the disks up and have multiple toys out. It just seems that there are so many cool things that we keep discovering.

I like it that they boys are cool adding to this game instead of just beating it and being ready for a totally different game.

We have been playing it for a week now, my thought on it is that the characters really are just games for their franchise, for example you have jack sorrow you can play a pirates game, which is cool but you need all three pirates characters to complete it costing around PS24 that's not so bad but the incredibles has 5 characters out this is where it gets expensive. The toy box mode is cool but takes ages to build stuff worth playing in and really characters with out worlds like e jack skellington or repunzle are only payable in the toy box which to me seems kind of pointless. It would be a lot cooler if mr incredible could play in the pirates world and so on. I think disney missed a trick here.

They are keeping with the WDW & DL theme of you wouldn't find Woody in Tomorrowland and You shouldn't find The Beast in Adventureland...It's still about themes not just games. If that was the case, They'd just go willy nilly and it wouldn't be right. The incredibles weren't around during the time of pirates, it just wouldn't be right. This is still Disney after all...I wish there were more playsets coming out but for now this is the best there is...
Secondly, with every store basically having a two for one sale, you can easily get the characters you need without spending 3 times the money. Aside from the vaults and a few challenge circles you don't really need every character to finish a land. Just like you don't need every disc to finish.

If not this first series I'm sure the 3rd or 4th will...People are already complaining on the internet about the xbox disappointment and frankly, There's nothing I see with the PS4 that's making me want to run out and get it. I'm only looking at the WiiU for the mario games and even those are having less appeal for me.

I'm sorry dee I can't agree with you here, in the uk we don't have any such sale so it's very expensive, and my problem is more with character like jack, repunzle ect not having lands. Why bother to buy them, if they can't travel to the play sets?

We love it. And it's gotten to the point where DH is pre-ordering the figures.

Yes it will it'll be DI 2 as the new systems will not be backwards compatible. however the figures and discs will be able to be used on the next Gen systems.

I can relate. Today is the first day I haven't played at least an hour of the Toy Story in Space game. New discs are supposed to be out this Sunday at Toys are us. Wreck It Ralph, Vanellope, and the Frozen characters are supposed to be out this month (Nov.) in the US.
i love this game! clapping
