Disney Pet Resort

I just saw this on the Disney Parks Blog:

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2010/06/luxury-pet-resort-at-walt-disney-world-now-accepting-reservations/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+DisneyParks+%28Disney+Parks+Blog%29&utm_content=Bloglines

How awesome!! I doubt we would ever take advantage of this..because my guess is it's not cheap and I am..but how cool does that sound?!? I hated the old kennel system where you had to walk and feed your dog. I would love to take my dog here and know that he's getting spoiled (and read to apparently?!?..he'd never want to come home!)

And you can take hamsters or any other type of rodent! What do y'all think?

I've been eagerly awaiting this ever since I first heard about it. I don't think we'll take our fur kids there anytime soon, but it's good to know it's there.

That sounds seriously expensive. I love my pets, but I think they'd be almost as happy at home, and I'd be much happier with the money in my pocket.

Can I just go play with the puppies and kitties in the pet hotel as a Disney attraction? Smile I wonder if they'll let me volunteer...

Hello cdub,

That's good idea for saving some amount of money.

Moreover, I think it is an inexpensive pet resort as compare to their facilities. Sometime, I also leave my pet at home because he always feels happy at home but now I'm really glad that I have found pets own home that make him happy.

Best Regards,

I found an in-home pet sitter that's about what I pay the local place to board my [quadrupedal] son. I do like the idea of a pet resort but they are WAY pricey.

Our furbabies will be staying there in November. We used the MK facility last July. The prices are actually very comparable to boarding kennels at home. Actually in July, when the resort guest discount was applied, it was cheaper to board them at MK than it was at home. I also liked having them close by, we stopped in a couple of times during the week to check on them. We did not have to walk/feed them at MK...I think you only had to do that at a couple of the kennels...HS and AKL maybe...can't remember which ones.

The other advantage was that had there been any sort of veterinary emergency our old vet is on Orange Blossom Trail...not too far of a drive from Disney. Although, I'm wondering now if the new facility will have a vet on staff...don't know, have to do some more research.

We had a wonderful sitter when we lived in NY but had a horrible experience in FL. It was accidental, but the sitter we had - we had already used her a couple of times - mixed up our dates on her calendar and never came to take care of our babies. They were "home alone" for 5 days. Thank goodness we used one of those 2 gallon self watering bowls and they were fairly small dogs. She was more devastated than we were...she actually ended up getting out of the business she was so traumatized.

The Mgr of the MK kennel was telling us about the new facility...wish we were staying at PO this time, the kennel is just down the road.

I'll be sure to file a furbabie TR too!!

MillieHubbard..that's a horrible story!! Your poor babies!!!!!!!!!!
My dog is very sensitive and would probably have taken being left alone personally and never talked to us again!!!!

If you don't mind my asking how much was the MK kennel? I didn't know that they didnt make you come check on your dog. That's awesome!

It was somewhere around $18/night. I'm thinking the new facility will probably be $23-25 per night. It's one of those expenses that I just have to plan for...

$18 is not that bad! Our vet is $17.50..I may seriously have to consider this next time. I'd like knowing that he got to "go to Disney World too". Maybe it's just me talking crazy but I always feel bad that he never gets to go.

That sounded high to me until you pointed out that that's about the same as you'd pay at your kennel.

Well..to be honest the $17 a night we pay is for the "indoor run". I have no idea what that means but it's an upgrade from the $14.50 we'd pay for the really big kennel.
