Disney Testing New Dining Res. System

I don't know about all of you, but I hate the dining reservation system! It bugs me I have to plug in my conf. numbers each time and it's not always easy to search for things. Apparently Disney has changed to a new res. system this week! It seems to be broken down much better! Here is some more info!

I logged on last night and made my ressies for November. Silly me...I didn't realize that as a resort guest I could make reservations earlier than 180 days. I still managed to get an early dinner reservation at Le Cellier on Thanksgiving...guess not that many people want to eat steak on Thanksgiving!!

I was able to get ADRs at all of our other first choices so it looks like we're going to have a great dining adventure!! 180 days from today!!!

Millie, sounds great! Congrats on Le Cellier for Thanksgiving. That seems shocking! When you have time, let us know what other ADRs you got (now that I've made a lot of mine, I'm eager to figure out where to fill in the rest.)

ChipandDaleFan -- thanks for posting! I think the new site is a bit easier to use -- what do you think?

I agree. It is much easier to search for different types of dining experiences at different locations. It is still anoying that your reservations don't save in your vacation profile though and I have to type the confirmation number in each time. Grrr.

With that being said I'm glad I can do that! I had a very cranky CM named Carlotta mess up my reservations- yes, plural! Every one I made through her was wrong! She put down 4 people for one, 3 for another and there are only two of us going! Thank goodness another helpful CM, Edward Perkins, was able to help me fix them! If not for the online res. system and checking I ouwld not have known that everything was wrong. I would have shown up at 8:40 and my res. would have been over at 4:00 laugh

Bottom line, use the system to search but more importantly to check! If you can, book online and do it yourself- it's always better that way! And most importantly, if you call Disney dining and get Carlotta.....HANG UP!

It seemed very easy to use although I haven't figured out how to view all of my ressies in one place...is there a way to do that?

OK..on the ressies - New=never eaten there before:

Wed 11/24 Cape May Cafe (New) - dinner

Thurs 11/25 Liberty Tree Tavern (New - can you believe it!!) - lunch
Le Cellier - dinner (WooHoo!!)

Fri 11/26 Kona Cafe (New) - breakfast - BIG KAHUNA!!!!
The Wave (New) - dinner

Sat 11/27 we'll do 2 CS since we're using 2 TS on Thanksgiving probably at HS - although might go to AK too, so who knows!! Maybe Yak & Yeti for cash

Sun 11/28 Boma (a fave) - dinner - LOVE Boma!!

I can't wait...we also have a couple of desserts to try that we'll do as "take away"...I've been eager to try the Grapefruit Cake at Brown Derby (we had dinner there a couple of years ago but missed the Grapefruit Cake) and I've heard good things about the Kiosk in Italy...so many meals so few days!!

That's a lot of new restaurants to try. Good job! We often like to do one new one and one old favorite per day. Liberty Tree Tavern is one of our favorites and Kona Cafe is great for breakfast. Are you going to try new things with the CS as well?

Maybe, depending on where we are...we have more than a few favorite CS spots that offer a great meal for a great value:

Earl of Sandwich - DTD
Cosmic Ray's - MK
Columbia Harbor House - MK
Sunshine Seasons - Epcot
Yakitori House - Epcot
Boulangerie Pattisserie - Epcot
Tangierine Cafe - Epcot
Studio Catering - HS
Royal Anadapur Tea Company - AK
Flame Tree BBQ - AK

New CS to try:
Yorkshire County Fish Shop - MK
Diamond Horseshoe - MK
Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station - MK
Fairfax Fare - HS
Starring Rolls Cafe - HS
Yak & Yeti Counter Service - AK
Mara - AKL
Comtempo Cafe - Contemporary
Captain Cook's Snack Company - Poly
Bongos Cafe - DTD

Once again, too many choices and not enough days!! It's good, though, to have options identified.

It's fun to try new stuff, but just about the only one on the bottom list that I would consider giving up a top one for is the Yak & Yeti CS. Most of my favorite CS is on top, but if I were going to try one new one Y&Y is the best I see on the bottom. I actually prefer it to Sunshine Seasons, although it's pretty standard "Chinese Takeout" fare.

Starring Rolls has some great cupcakes. I have no idea what they have for actual food though.

Better than tell.....Show! A few popular ones include the butterfinger cupcake, chocolate peanut butter cupcake, marble cupcake, chocoalte and white chocolate chip brownie. Sandwiches are huge but yummy.

No! No you would NOT be wrong. Except that there are a few yummo cupcakes and things at AK now, too... Also, save some snack credits for schoolbread in Norway and some yummy things in France's bakery, too!

By the way, Starring Rolls closes at 4pm, so be sure to get there early!

No, those are photos of my friend's sandwich. Enough sandwich for two though! I opted for a cupcake. Yum.

Yeah, why waste space on a sandwich! silly I do get a bit sick if I do too much sugar without something to spread it out in my stomach though.
