Disney Traditions

I used the search feature for the board, and the most recent post that came up on this was from 2009, so apologies if it's been dicussed more recently and I just happen to miss it.

So, what are you favorite Disney World traditions, either while you're at the park, before you leave, or after you get home?

In no particular order...
- Picture with Gertie the Dinosaur
- Buy a Vinylmation
- Get to DHS at park opening, and I run to get a FP for Toy Story Mania, and Mr. Arb heads to Starring Rolls and gets a chocolate peanut butter cupcake (yes, for breakfast)
- Hang out at Club Cool and watch for people's reactions after they get their first taste of Beverly.

Mine is croissants. When I was younger, every day I would go and buy a croissant. I dont know why, because I have had better. But for some reason I cant end the day without one!

But the biggest thing we do is visit Epcot the day we arrive. Since its usually opened the latest, and usually one of the less crowded parks at night, we always go there after we get settled. This year when we go in November though we wont be able to do that which makes me sad because were buying individual passes, and decided to not get one for the day we arrive.

When we were little, we ALWAYS had to have two souvenirs from our trip: one t shirt each, and then one other thing - a figurine, or a book, or something special. In recent years, as we've been passholders and our trips have been more frequent, but for less time, our traditions have softened a little. Normally, they're food related Smile Probably our most enduring tradition now is to make sure we head to the parks at least once during fall, and then again around Christmas. I love to see the park decorations, and the resorts are always beautiful, too.

In no particular order:

- get a picture of the Welcome sign as we drive in (no stopping, I promise!!)
- Get a picture of the Mickey steel statue at the Transportation Center
- Rope drop each park!
- Get a new Christmas ornament or three
- Get pins for the year, resort and anything esle special from the trip
- EAT MICKEY ICE CREAM SANDWICHES

I am sur Joe would tell you there are plenty more, but I like to think I am reasonable and rational about it.

A Micke mickey y Ice Cream Bar, a ride on the People Mover, and a visit to Casey's Corner. And while I wouldn't consider this a tradition we always end up buying the yellow Mickey ponchos (we have probably twenty in the garage but we never remember to bring them!)

Turn around under the train station leaving MK for the last time, stare at the castle and shed a tear goodbye.

We only have them when we go to EPCOT. Ride Soarin' (we are a perfect 11 for 11 on getting terminal 2), and eating at a country.

Is there something special about terminal 2?

Not that I am aware of, but we always end up there. I would like to try Terminal 1 at some point.

Heh, we also apparently have a Soarin' tradition - We're 3 for 3 of getting seated in the last row. Which is fine, but I'd love to be in the first row once to experience it without seeing someone's dangling feet, haha.

ONly been on Soarin' 2x but both have been in the front row. Very cool effect with no one in front of you.

I agree...it is awesome! We were about 5 for 5 in row 3. The last time we went we asked for the first row..we had to wait a turn but that was OK the front was worth it!

We always watch the 3pm parade in front of "Sleepy Hollow", while enjoying our "Liberty Swirls". We always end the day of MK riding "Peter Pan". My Dad and I would always ride "Dumbo" togeter. That was "our" ride. He has since passed away but my 6 yr old daughter insists on riding Dumbo just with me (So I won't be sad that I can't ride this with Papa anymore).

I love the pearls too. I will probably crack some open for a second year in a row this year.

Lizzy has found her new favorite way to celebrate trips to Epcot. Uh oh. This could get expensive. Quick.

(ps - one of my MOST prized possessions is my double strand that my mom and grandmother got me for Christmas several years back. I would grab them in a fire after my children and before pics.)

I kind of like Beverly also, but I know how most people feel about it, especially after tasting a couple of the other options and they aren't expecting it. Watching their faces really is a nice way to kill 10-15 minutes if we just want to escape the sun for a little while.
