DisneyBound: Where Fashionistas and Disney Geeks Collide

http://disneybound.tumblr.com/

I'm obsessed with this girl's website. I originally found her on pinterest a couple of weeks ago and I'm so addicted! She creates outfits that are inspired by Disney characters, rides, resorts. Adorable!

Oh, if only I had thought of doing this when I was still young and could pull it off. Somehow I don't think a frumpy 40 year old Mom can quite pull off dressing like Snow White or Ariel. If only I had seen this when my daughters were small enough that I could still dress them! They would have had a closet full of street wear princess clothes.

Would you embrace this closet character style? Here's just one example.

Have you ever taken her ideas and worn them?

no, i'm not that trendy or young anymore. Some of her outfits are very "young" and i can't fit into them anyways. A lot of them come from Forever 21, if you have any bit of a body it doesn't fit.

I follow her Tumblr, too! And I kind of have the same idea on my Polyvore page:

I have seen her ideas and I think some of them anyone can do, regardless of age. So, clearly meant for younger peeps. However, white jeans and a green shirt with a purple purse anyone can wear (well, anyone who is willing to wear white jeans laugh ) By the same note though, some of her things I think are a stretch. Again, white jeans, a green shirt, and a purple purse --- okay, maybe it's Buzz Lightyear inspired, but I would not say that I would think "Buzz Lightyear!" if I crossed paths with someone wearing it. Nevertheless, she has a unique concept and people seem to be embracing it because I hear about her site in many circles. Good for her!

What is Polyvore? I'm up on pinterest, but not informed of Polyvore. Thanks!

polyvore is kind of like pinterest i guess. you can design outfits on there and link them to where they are actually purchased. then follow other people who have similar or unique style to you. See an outfit you like click on each piece and be directed to where you can purchase it.

I would really like to take some of these concepts and put them into practice. I mean, I couldn't wear most of the outfiits she has because of my age, and size, but I think I can take what she has and come up with some of my own. Smile

There are some cute ideas but most of the shoes have got to go. If anyone wore those shoes in the parks, they would be in the running for the stoopid shoes game.

I love a lot of the shoes, but in all honest I could never wear them! LoL... I'm such a shoe wimp. Heels are not my friends, I'm a flip flop gal.

Id seriously consider printing a few off and going shopping with them in hand, she puts together some amazing sets. Im a big fan of the accessories she chooses too, I'd definatly buy most, if not all of them lol!

Thanks Nancy!! I was so tickled with the outfit and so few people "got it".

Just because the stuff she pins can be pricey, doesn't mean you can't take her ideas and apply it to clothes that you can afford. Smile My son's Agent P outfit for instance was all on sale for more than 60% off. Pants $25, Shirt $19, Tie $9, he already had the hat.

My daughter just bought an adorable pink & purple stripped outfit at Target and it's a total Cheshire Cat deal. The high/low skirt mimics a tail, she needs some ears though, and some sort of necklace to mimic that grin.

The kids have been having a great time with this conceptual character dressing. I think that for young adults it a really fun way to style yourself.

Oh my gosh Melissa Hayden would look adorable!!

Kirk goes to an Anime convention that also does heavy Disney Cosplay and I think he's going to wear this there as well. It's just so much fun!

You know, a lot of people underestimate the amount Disney cosplay that goes on at anime and comic cons. The one that we go to in the autumn I'll have to keep an eye out for photos for you guys, some of them are beyond belief.
