Do You Have An Annual Pass?

We don't live in Florida, but when we were going regularly it was very much worth it to get an annual pass for us.

Do you have an annual pass, and if so do you live in Florida?

Wife & I have Annual passes and we live in NH. An AP makes sense for us because we usually go for two weeks at a time, and we try to schedule our trips so that we go one time in Feb. and the next year we go in Jan. so we get at least four weeks on an AP. Then we let it lapse till the next trip. I think the breakeven point for an AP is if you go for 10 or 12 days, (of course I may be wrong on the exact amount of time) Right now our AP expire 1-17-11 so we COULD theoretically get two more weeks out of them, and we already have been for 29 days using them.

We have APs and love them. It's nice to know that you can go into any park at any time and not have to worry about how many days you're using up.

The price keeps going up up up, though, so now they're much more expensive than they were even a couple of years ago.

We have them, and love them. We're FL residents though, so I think the rate is better. I have the AP, and my daughter has a seasonal. It's blocked at the busiest times, but those are usually the times we avoid anyway (dead heat of summer, Christmas week, etc.)

One thing cool to note if you ARE ever a FL resident (i.e. driving to the parks) and a passholder - the AP includes free parking, the SP doesn't. That's why I have the AP, and it has MORE than paid for itself. We try to get to the parks at least once monthly, if not more (and it's usually more Smile )

I never thought of doing it like that. We were thinking of getting APs now that we are closer but trying to decide if it made sense. We also go for about 2 weeks at a time, and now may work in shorter trips once of twice a year. But working in 2 2-weeks trips within a "year" might make alot of sense. Thanks for the idea, Vettelover!

We used to go a lot more when we lived about 5 hours away. We would always take one 7-8 day trip a year..then we would schedule the next trip within that time frame..
For example, if we went December 7-14th 2010..we would go December 1-7th, 2011. So we get both trips out of one AP.
Also, back in the day (you know..2005) they had really awesome AP discounts on room discounts. We had POP for around $50 a night in June..it was great!

We've moved and we're around 9 hours away and we don't go anywhere near as much as we used to so we stopped getting them.

We live in PA and we have an annual pass. We are also DVC members so we pay about the same price as Florida residents. We have been going 2 or 3 times per year for a week each trip.

Ouch for sure! But it's still probably cheaper than getting tickets at both places. Are DL tickets pretty comparable to WDW tickets as far as price?

yea I think they are...it would be cleaper by 200 bucks for me to just get hoppers for my trips that I have planned but Im thinkin that Ill be saving 200 bucks in the MAJOR discounts you get with a bi-coastal..which is more of a discount than a regular AP...and I get to say I have a golden ticket Wink

I have a FL resident Seasonal pass.
I usually take it out every other year.
I buy it late October the first year and then go all that year to Disney and take my last trip early October just before the pass expires so in essence almost 2 years worth of trips out of it. Then I skip the parks or buy an Epcot after 4pm for the next year and when it expires I get the seasonal pass again.

I also bought a non-expiry 10 day ticket that I use if I know I'm only gonna do a 1 day trip. I've got all angles covered.
Has been the most economical way for me to do Disney so much and most of my friends don't want to go with me every year anyway.

So you use the 10 day pass in between the APs? That's clever.

Yeah, because sometimes I want to vacation someplace different and need the cash to go there.
Last year I went to Spain. I'm planning on Australia/New Zealand 2012 so won't be doing much Disney from Nov. 11 to 2012.

Gotta actually see the real World not just Mickeys version of it. mickey

Have you done all your arrangements for Australia? I've been looking into trips and would love some tips.

I'm going with a group of people that I met on TUG (Timeshare user group) forum.
We're actually doing a cruise on Princess for 12 days from Auckland to Sydney stopping along the way including Tasmania.

I haven't firmed up all my plans yet but do know we're doing the cruise and a few days in Auckland and Sydney pre and post cruise. I'm hoping to do a Hawaii stopover but that might be a little overzealous.

Have you guys ever thought of doing a Disney cruise together?

Hi,

I do not have an annual pass; but between 2003 and 2007, when I went to WDW by myself six times, I could have used one.

Next February I'm going on a 12-night southern Caribbean cruise, on Royal Caribbean sailing from Baltimore; as I have no plans for the rest of the year, I guess I won't be going to WDW.

Australia + Cruise + Hawaii sounds wonderful, but maybe a bit much!

Jim, how come you picked a cruise over WDW?

I was invited on this cruise by some friends back in July, when I made the deposit. I used some savings to pay off a lot of credit card debt, and want to build it back up. I had no plans to go back to WDW, especially since I will be undergoing surgery to remove my gallbladder in the near future. I have a stone sitting in my gallbladder, apparently from eating far too much of the foods I like the taste of and far too little of the foods I do not like the taste of.

I have a goal of staying in each onsite WDW resort, so the trips are getting ever more expensive. I have stayed in a different resort on each of my seven solo trips. I was even thinking of doing an occasional column (such as Jolly Holiday by caitiesus and teacherdrama) on traveling solo at WDW, but probably have enough material for only one post (unless I do very detailed reports of each trip). The only resorts I haven't stayed in are the following: the monorail resorts; Fort Wilderness; YC; Swolphin; the Downtown Disney Resort Area; SSR; OKW; POR. I apologize if this does not answer your question.

Yes it is alot but it's a long ways off for me. I live in Florida so it's gonna take me 4 days just to get to and from Oz so I am gonna make it worth my while. I might leave off Hawaii if it's too expensive and just stay in CA for one night to recoup before continuing on. I gotta stop somewhere along the way. Maybe a trip to Disneyland would help me get over my jetlag. biggrin
