Do you trust the DVC guy at all?

So I have an inherent distrust of anyone who's trying to sell me anything. We went and did the presentation, but the guy might as well not have talked because I didn't believe he was acting in my best interest. If I buy DVC it will be based on the counsel of people online.

Have you done the DVC presentation? If so how did you feel about the sales rep? I didn't think ours was particularly sleazy, I just never trust someone who's interests aren't aligned with mine.

We've done the "pitch" and while we didn't find the rep sleazy, either, I agree that it doesn't seem like they're taking into consideration a lot of the aspects from the guests' point of view.

Another case of do your homework and know everything going into it before you even do the pitch. It's all out there online.

I've never done the DVC tour..but I am just like you. I have an inherent distrust of anyone who is trying to sell me something that cost more than my monthly salary.

I did the tour and bought. Actually I had already decided to buy even before I did the tour.
I bought back in 2004 so the market was much different back then. There really wasn't much of a difference between
direct purchase and resale back then but now that's a different story.

There are some rumored changes coming to DVC very soon so I'd hold off on buying resale at this point until totally sure of what those changes will be and how they will affect future owners.

If you want to read all about it check out these threads.

I personally believe that Disney is going to make changes that are in their best interests and limiting the perks of a resale contract only make business sense since it's competition for them and they have ROFR. It's an easy way for them to pick up points super cheap and sell again to new families coming on board the Disney experience.

In this one instance I am glad that I bought directly from Disney. I think.
Everyone is nervous and rightly so although I believe that Disney will probably grandfather in those already in the system like Marriott and others have done when they change the rules of the game so drastically, but future contracts could be under totally new rules.

It would make me nervous not to buy direct from Disney..I'm not sure why.

Well the co-worker of mine that was just down to WDW and got back on Friday night bought into BLT. They loved the DVC guy they had. They said they never had any doubt about what he was saying and took plenty of time to answer any questions they had. They also got and additional 100 points for purchasing.

So do I, especially cars, double glazing or anything else worth more than a few quid.

I only trust people who's incentives are the same as mine. The DVC salesperson's are not.

I think that would be my problem..I would just see the Disneyness of it all and glaze over the fact that these people want a chunk of my salary.

Hi,

I did the DVC tour back in 2006 for SSR, mainly for the free fastpasses and ice cream at the end. I didn't buy, because I think that with few exceptions, DVC works best for couples and families, neither of which I am a part. I didn't find the rep to be sleazy because--and perhaps I missed some clues because I am not the greatest judge of character--I didn't see it as a hard sell.

When I saw the presentation this summer my rep wasn't sleazy, just a bit pushy. She also said once we left the bonus offer would not longer be on the table and I've got countless calls and emails still offering it since.

Great point. I don't buy the pushy bit at all. Plus it always seems like they've had a whole pitcher of the Kool-Aid.
