Doing a trip report with populating pictures at the correct spot

I hope someone can explain this to me as I can't seem to get how to put the pictures where I want them in my trip report. I have tried several times but came out because I see the picture in the choose file area but I can't tell if it is where I need it to be in my trip report. And I really don't want to stop my trip report after every picture. I think am just technically challenged. It would never end. laugh
Thanks for any help anyone can give me as to how I do this trip report with pictures in the correct place.

Hi Kathys,

The way I do our trip reports is I upload my photos to a hosting site like Photobucket. Then, when I create a post on the forum, I just paste the IMG link of the photos in from Photobucket wherever I want them to appear in the forum post.

I'm not sure how it works when uploading photos directly to the forum as I don't use that method. I personally don't like doing that because you can't get them back (as far as I know). You're basically giving the photos to the forum software. By posting links to a photos externally, I retain control over the photos as they are not stored within the forum system.

Another advantage of linking is that you can change the linked photo and it will be updated in the forum automatically. For example, if I discover a better photo than one I've already linked into the forum, I can replace the linked photo in Photobucket and the new, better version will automatically appear in the forum post.

And of course, if the photos are hosted on a site like Photobucket or Flikr etc. you can give those links to friends/family or anyone else completely outside of the forum.

Uploading directly into the forum is of course a bit faster as it's only one step. biggrin

I second what Ken said! I use Photobucket as well and it is easy to copy/paste the link!

Hi Eeyore and KenJ I will go and look at Photobucket but can either of you tell me if there is a cost for this?
Thanks.

No cost for basic photobucket Kathys.

Did you see this thread too? It covers more than just Facebook.

Thanks MrHub...but my pictures or not on my FB page they are in a folder on my computer so will the 'basic' Photobucket allow me to do what I really want to do? If not guess my TR won't have any pictures. Sad

Hi, kathys

The way I do my reports is to write them with MSWord and insert the pictures where they should be. Then when I am happy with the report I save the whole thing as a PDF. Then I just include the PDF as an attachment to the post.

Here's a link to the thread that includes our last trip report. In the thread you will find "links" that are actually PDF files.

For me using an program like MSWord let's me take advantage of the spell and grammar checkers.

Hi Bill...thank you I have already started in MSWORD with pictures and all now I will check it out (saving it as a PDF) and if the first 2 days go wonderful I will move on. Thanks again. If it works you will know as it will be on the boards (my 1st 3 days that is). Thanks again.

This would be a great way to be able to work on the report offline. awesome There has been many times where the internet is not available or is extremely slow.
