Downtown Disney hotels

I'd love some recommendations/suggestions/reviews on Downtown Disney hotels -- Royal Plaza, Holiday Inn, Hilton, etc... Has anyone stayed there and is it worth the lower price to give up the "Disney" hotel or your timeshare/condo?

OMG! Thank you for asking this question! I've been wondering about the DTD hotels for some time now. I keep thinking there may be a time in the future when I just can't afford to stay on site, and if that's the case, a DTD hotel would be the next best thing....I THINK, because of their proximity to Downtown Disney. Would love to know what they're like.

I never find the price differences to be worth the perks you give up. They're usually a bit cheaper, but I don't feel like you're getting the same product.

I think you get some of the perks -- at least EMH if I'm correct -- at the Hilton. Yes/no?

Very interesting questions. I wanted to know about EMH at Downtown Disney hotels myself, so I looked it up. The information I read confirms you do get EMH at the DD Hilton as well as Shades of Green. Those are the only non-Disney properties that do offer that great perk. I would certainly double check with a resort before staying off property, as that may be a deal breaker.

Great info to have. No EMH would definitely be a deal-breaker for us.
