Earth Day Freebie at Disney stores!

Saw this and wanted to share - wish I hadn't gotten rid of all our plastic shopping bags while spring cleaning!

Disney Store: bring in five plastic shopping bags on Friday, April 22, and you'll receive a free reusable shopping bag featuring a green silhouette of Mickey Mouse

Other deals that aren't Disney - Caribou Coffee and Starbucks: bring refillable mug and get a free coffee or tea

Lowes: Giving away trees

National parks: Free admission today through April 24

I hope someone gets the bag and shows it off!

Thanks, Caitie! DD is out of school today, so I think we're heading out to lunch and to the mall - we'll check it out!

Oh cool! I knew about the Lowes deal, but not the others! It's a rainy day here in Charlotte so maybe I can convince Joe to go to the mall for the Disney Store deal!!

Thanks cait!

omigosh.. can I just tell you what a MADHOUSE it was at my store today??

(in case some of you dont know, I'm a store manager of a Disney Store)

People went nuts for the free bag and we ran out after 2hours! Then we had to use back ups which were just other style we regularly carry. It was nice that everyone brought their bags to recycle though. We also had a "scavenger hunt" for kids to learn about what the Disney Stores are doing to save the environment (organic cotton tees, reusable water bottles, reusable shopping bags, etc) they seemed to enjoy it.

But it was CRAZY busy from the second we opened! I do run a higher volume store so I did hear from neighboring stores that are slower than we are that they werent quite as busy.

I don't think it was publicized well here, or maybe our stores aren't quite as busy since, well, you know, WDW is here. Smile DD picked a Rapunzel bag - she was so thrilled. She's lucky I didn't see the Captain Jack bags first Smile

Disney is so brill - I will actually be adverstising for them now everytime I go shopping! wink

And, ironically, we were in a mall yesterday --- and completely forgot bags! D'oh!

Went to our local Disney Store to do the same and it was crazy! They ran out right after we got ours, and people were freaking out...over a bag. I hope you didn't have to deal with that kind of stuff at your store.

People always go nuts for something free. Even when it retails for $2.50. They were COMPLAINING that we ran out.
Ok .. seriously? WE TOOK YOUR TRASH.. AND GAVE YOU SOMETHING FOR FREE! FREEEEEEEEEEE!! lol.. man.. it's crazy.
I would just tell them.. we ran out of the Earth Day style.. but you can go ahead and choose any of our other styles! It's better than paying for it right?
MOST people were ok.. some were pains.

There was a guy who literally lost his mind because they ran out. Then he insisted on taking 5 (FIVE) of the other style for free...he had 1 kid with him.

Well to that I can only say that, that is commonly known as theft! I really feel sorry for the kid, It's a great example to set.
I would think that TDO would have a contingency plan for such an occurence (of running out). The jerk should have been charged with misdemeanor theft and felony stupidity.

On second thought maybe the charge of theft could be better replaced by a charge of extortion.

We did get our free tree at Lowes - a little Balsam Fir sapling. Should make a great Christmas tree in about 10-15 years! Haha.

we DID have a contingency plan! Once the Earth Day styles ran out, we were allowed to give out the ones we regularly carry. But SOME people freaked out because they didnt get the "special Earth Day" bag! it's like.. really? You're collecting THAT?? cmon.

Yes - I would have liked to get the Earth Day bag, but given that I didn't arrive until well after noon, I was just thankful to make DD's (my DD Smile ) day by getting her a Tangled bag, and creating dialogue about recycling. DD, you would like us as customers. We're very reasonable and we never mess up the displays mickey
