Has anyone ever booked their flight through Disney travel? This is my first time flying to Disney and I'm not sure how it all works. Disney booked airtran for me. I'm not sure how to check to make sure everything is ok or how to get tickets...

GREAT question! Did Disney give you any sort of confirmation number or confirmation page? I would check that to see if your flight confirmation for Air Tran is on there. Once you have that confirmation, you should be able to check the flights, etc. Your tickets will probably be e-tickets; that's just my guess.
If I were you, I'd call Disney and have them tell you what the confirmation number is the for the flight so that you can get on Air Tran's website and check details. You might also be able to call Air Tran directly and give them your name and flight number. They might be able to look up details for you.

Yep, I'd call Disney on this one and see if you can get the confirm. number. The airline has to have you listed under something!

Well I called Disney and I feel a little bit better. Apparently everything is in order and all I have to do is go up to the ticket counter with my photo ID and they will give me my boarding pass... This still makes me nervous because I like tangible tickets or at least e tickets(What can I say I'm old fashioned) and between airtran and Disney this all seems very theoretical...

Actual physical tickets are hard to come by these days, but a confirmation number is a must! I've never done Disney Travel before, how was the experience overall?
Not bad. A bit nerve racking because I still don't have a flight confirmation #. So I might have to call Disney...again. I had to call in the beginning because the CM misspelled my friend's name and when I called back the other CM had to call the airline... It was a big mess. But it does take some of the thought out of it. lol Ok maybe not all of the thought.

I would call Air Tran directly in this case. Tell them your name and flight number and ask them if they have a confirmation number listed for you. I booked with Disney once and did this with American Airlines. They were great about it.

I think if you're a control freak like me, it's probably a dangerous idea to try to outsource things. If you're relaxed they can probably take care of a lot of things. I have a bad habit of not trusting people, so I'd be double checking everything anyway. I might as well do it myself then.

No confirmation number would bother me..I'd call and get it pronto. If they won't give it to you (and there is really no reason why they shouldn't) then I would call AirTran.

That does seem like a bit of a hassle for something so simple. Maybe the people who usually use the service are just the "don't worry about it" type.

Yeah. This is why I have a problem with travel agents, too 
I just want to know everything that's going on, so if there's a mistake I know I made it and not someone else.

Wow this sort of sounds like a hassle . . . this is something we were considering trying, but now I am not so sure . . do you feel you got a good deal on airfare? I wondering if I wait and book airfare myself if I could find a better deal down the road. Plus then I wouldn't have to worry about missing confirmation numbers and such.

Good questions, guys! I'd never think to ask these! I'll bet they DO pick your seat for you, which would stink. I'm very particular about seats on planes (NOT in the back, where it's always bumpy!)
When I went down in `09 my friend had disney do the air fair for her and her son. Going down they where assigned business class seating but the trip back they had coach.
I stayed with them, and for Disney to add my air fare to the reservation it would have cost me, I already knew what adding my dinning plan and ticket would be, $300 more than if I booked the same exact flight thru the air line.
I would suggest anyone shops the prices... $300 is $300.

Good point. You always have more interest in finding the lowest airfare than Disney does, but at the same time I'm sure they get some good deals. It's probably worth trying out both ways.

And based on what I've found there is very little out there that would've been much cheaper. Disney books your flight minutes after you hang up from booking your vacation. So you call book, and then they call their "flights" department. Then the flight is booked and you receive confirmation of you vacation via email a few hours later. Your seats with most airlines anymore are not picked until the last minute at check-in. I found this out though a flight I took earlier this year. Unless you pay extra to have early seat picks your seats aren't picked until the end. I hope all of this helps and just a disclaimer this is just based on my experience.

She had no idea she had business going down. She actually traded seats with a couple a few rows behind me. She later told me how much she hates sitting up front, strange if you ask me. I would have gladly switch seats with her.

With the decline in the number of airlines I think prices are converging somewhat although I'm sure if you have infinite time you can find a better price, but of course that's only worth it if your time is worth nothing. 
I'd be happy to pay for the convenience of just having my Disney trip magically "happen" most of the time.
