Frustrated with booking services at WDW! Help!

I'm so frustrated and upset by the "supervisors" in Guest Services travel arrangements. I called and talked with a really nice guy in March when I was preparing to book my reservation and wanted to really get the information right. It has been 20 years since I've been to Disney World and was very excited to be at a place in my life that I could take my daughter. I booked in March knowing I wasn't going until November, but didn't want to lose out on where I wanted to stay. I asked several times if the prices changed before I went would I be able to get an adjustment. And I do mean I asked several times. I was told, yes, that their usually is a discount offered around that time and to give a call as soon as I see it and an adjustment would be made. I said, no problem, just call during the offer period and I would be good? I was told again, yes.

In August I saw there was a special for the time I was going, I called and was told no. That the room I had booked, the special price was sold out since the rooms were filled. I said that wasn't what I was told. I was not advised of any limitations or circumstances. Long story short, a "supervisor" very rudely agreed to honor the discounted price for me and let me know no other discounts would be allowed. I thanked her for her hospitality and thought it was good.

Now a month before I go, I head online to do my online check in and find that my room was down graded. I booked a theme park view, club level at the contemporary. Now I have a standard, club level atrium room! The "supervisor" flat out lied and took it upon herself to change my room to honor a discount! Which was a discount at all!!

When I called today after I found the change I was first told that no my reservation says a Theme Park View, which I asked her to check again since MyExperience online said differently and she still said it was correct. Then I wanted her to add my flight to my itinerary and it was found that it wasn't a theme park view and she couldn't do anything because they were sold out. Long story short another "supervisor" said she would put it back and charge me the old rate. When I said that wasn't acceptable since I never approved a room change and was told the special rate for my room was to be honored she very rudely told me I would have to talk to the person I booked with since it was her issue. Of course that person wasn't in and she would have her return a call to me this afternoon. In other words, I am feeling screwed...

I know this is long, but I am so upset. I wanted to pull out all the stops for my daughter as this is probably the only time I will be able to do this vacation for her. Who do these people think they are, "playing" with my finances and vacation? I'm not even there and I'm dreading and not feeling like its going to be the happiest place on earth! Any advice, words of wisdom or direction to be able to not feel so taken advantage of is appreciated. Thanks for listening....

Hi there McPsMom! Welcome to our forums.
Have some Pixie Dust stars

First thing's first, take a deep breath, poor yourself a cuppa and get excited because YOU'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD! banana

This is a major vacation, and I'm so very happy for you that you're going to be able to take your daughter and share this with her. How old is she? Has she been before?

Working with travel companies can be a pain in the toosh, even Disney. Make sure that you write down the name of everyone you are talking to. If the person doesn't call you back within 48 hours, call them back again and stay on top of it. Keep talking to different people and going up the chain if you need to. Remember to be as polite as you can - you'll catch more flies with honey.

It can be really hard (at least for me) to roll with changes (especially when you were paid for one thing and that's not what you are getting) but you can't let this possible set back color your entire trip. It sounds like you're headed for a pretty nice trip.

About the "magic" of your room. Most Disney fans I know would be doing back flips for a club level room at the AAA Four Diamond Contemporary Resort, Magic Kingdom view or not. Did you know that only 5% of hotels in the US have that rating? Pretty swank. You are going to be in an AWESOME room with access to the club lounge and just a couple of monorail stops away from the Magic Kingdom. It may not be the "perfect" room of your dreams without the Castle view, but I bet your daughter will love it just as much because she's spending time with her mom.

I won't say that it's going to be OK, because you're obviously upset and I can't promise you that things will turn out the way that you want them to. However, this is just a small part of a vacation, and focusing on other great things that you'll be doing should help you to remember that this is just one thing. Is your daughter helping you plan? What else are the two of you looking forward to at Disney? Have you made ADRs?

Hi again McPsMom mickey
I was thinking about you today and wondering if you were able to get things straightened out with Disney. I sure hope so, and I've got lots of happy thoughts headed your way.
