Hair Ties on Expedition Everest??

Hi Everyone!

I posted this on another Disney forum but didn't receive the best (or the nicest) responses so I thought I'd try on here!

On the part on Expedition Everest where you're about to go backwards and the bridge is out, if you look to your right (and sometimes left) there is a ton of hair ties just thrown on the side of the ride. Does any one know why this is?! Its so strange and I've always wondered why they are there. I don't' think they're just flying out of people's hair. I hope someone has an answer!!

How odd! I've never heard or noticed this. I'll be sure to look for them next time.
I did a quick google search and found many questions about why they are there, but sadly no answers.

Thanks for researching! It may have to remain one of those Disney mysteries.... confused

I think it's like coins in a fountain, but it does make it look trashy. Same thing with Big Thunder Mt. Last we were there, people had been throwing stuff out the windows of the building onto the rocks, gum wrappers, hair ties, gum, coins. Next day it was clean though, so they try to keep up with that at least.

OK, yeah I'd imagine it would be hard to clean that area of Expedition Everest often.

I have seen this at another resort (great wolf lodge). Lots of hair ties on a top railing near a water slide. I think its people having fun but it looks like a mess and its rude!

It is! It looks gross and it annoys me.

I thought for sure mr.hub would have the answer for this for you. I thought he had told me about this the last time we rode Everest.

It's the same when you take the chair lift at Blizzard Beach! When you get close to the drop off they are alot. I figured people were throwing them there because there is no way they'd fall out of your hair while your just sitting there.
I agree that it's rude. It's the same as littering!

I never noticed. I'll have to try to remember to look the next time I'm there.

I've haven't noticed that either. I agree that it's rude and detracts from the experience.

I did some research and I found a picture of the some of the hairbands on this post at DISboards. It only shows a few bands, but they said there's a whole pile of them up there.

We noticed this and yeah it is kind of rude. I think it makes the mountain look really cheesey.

Yeah when I went back in November 2012, there was a TON of hair ties. My fiance and I always comment on it. Sounds like its just people being rude/weird/gross. Oh well.

EW seriously? EW! I always have 2 or 3 on me since my hair is uber long but when I take them off they go around my wrist. People are so nasty.

I don't get it! Why did they decide to throw their hair ties?? Idk about y'all, but I need my hair ties! Especially when it gets really hot and I have to pull my hair up off my neck before I die! Haha! Why would I want to throw it to waste on Mt. Everest?? Not to mention, I agree with everyone on here that it's very rude and looks trashy. That can't be an easy or safe spot to get up and clean, either. In the words of Sweet Brown, "Ain't nobody got time fa dat!"

I just think it is disrespectful. The people who throw their hair ties just don't care. I would love to see a yeti jump up and scare the ever loving out of those people who defile his mountain. Worth a thought!
