Have you ever had to cancel a WDW vacation?

We are devestated. Our original trip to WDW in May had to be cancelled. Had some unexpected things come up. Now we are not certain we will be able to go this year at all. How do you deal with this MAJOR letdown? I keep trying to be positive and think perhaps we can do 1 day at least at Typhoon Lagoon but not going to MK or Epcot......UGH!!!!!!!!!

I am so sorry Poppet, that's the worst. bighug

There was a point in my life that I planned for a Disney Vacation every year, and for 10 years, we never got there. It just happens, sometimes life gets in the way. It's the story told in "Up" you have to just enjoy the adventure that you have, even if you don't make it to Paradise Falls.

Give yourself time to grieve the loss of this trip. I know it sounds dumb, but it's okay, you can be devastated for a couple of days. Then pull yourself up and decided that the trip isn't canceled at all, that it's just been delayed. Sit down and run the numbers, decided when it's reasonable that you can get back (no matter how far in the future) and start a whole new plan. Use that planning and research to help ease those no-trip blues. You'll get there, it's just a delay.

Disney will be right there waiting for you as soon as you can get back. I promise.

So sorry to hear that you had to cancel your trip. Life happens unexpectedly sometimes. But like Kristen said Disney will be waiting for you. Maybe if you can do a little day trip that is better than nothing at all.

Sorry, don't want to sound like a brat. I know there are families that Disney is a once in a lifetime trip. I shouldn't be gripping but this is our yearly family vacation. We escape all the everyday stresses and just have fun and really bond. Trying to stay positive and see this as a small set-back. That's easier said than done......

You don't sound like a brat. You've been planning this trip for months (like most of us do, right?) and practically at the last minute you have to cancel. What a HUGE bummer that must be.

I felt bad enough last fall when hubby had to stay home because of business obligations and I went alone. I mean, I still got to go, saw everything, did everything, but it was still a let down not to have him along. I can only imagine how much worse it is for you.

Oh Poppet I'm so sorry!! That really stinks!!! I can only imagine how disappointed you are. Hang in there, you'll get the trip rescheduled for another time and then the fun of planning will start all over again.

I'm bumming because my hubby decided not to go with me and my family this October. He likes Disney but he's not a crazed fan like I am. He said since we went this past October, he's not really excited about going again so soon. He likes a few years in between his Disney trips. Going to be weird without him, but at least I'll have my niece and nephew to distract me.

I canceled our DCL Mediterranean cruise next year. Sad but true.
