Hello from Ellsworth Maine!

Hello everyone

New to the site and just feeling my way around. Headed down Aug 18th for a week. This will be my third trip with my kids and probably the last time while they are still kids. First trip they were 18mths and 4 hard to believe they are now 13 and 16. Looking forward to a new experience as the girls are now grown up and independent. I am also taking my current wife and this will be her first time to Disney! This may be the best trip yet!

After doing Dixie Landings in 94, Fort Wilderness in 99, and Pop Century in 05 the winner is Caribbean Resort. We had made reservations originally for Port Orleans(first choice) but had to change it due to flight changes and sadly Port Orleans was unavailable. I am still not 100% sure how I feel about it as it seems so large and Port Orleans just the opposite. I have been looking at lots of photos and am starting to warm up to it. Please if anyone has stayed at Caribbean let me know how it was. This will also be the first time since taking kids that I will be able to due some adult exploring so also looking for some ideas in that area. Disney World is and will always be my most favorite place to vacation!!!

One last thing how do you get the little bubble underneath with days till your trip?

Ohh..some of Carribbean beach has revamped their rooms to a Pirates of the Carribean themed. I'm not sure if those are extra but you might get one of those rooms and they are amazing!

CB is a very nice resort.....besides..you'll be at Disney how much will you really be in the room staring at the walls? Haha!

I've stayed at Caribbean Beach many times and loved it! It's a very different feel that Port Orleans, which I have also stayed at a few times. Port Orleans is a a bit more laid back but Caribbean is fun! They have a steal drum band playing outisde by the food court, many pools, and one large, pirate themed main pool! The building colors are so vibrant and happy! In my opinion, the food court there is much better than at Port Orleans. They also have hammocks in the sand, boat rentals, and more scenic walks. There's also a small arcade in by the food court. It's a great hotel to stay at! You will have a wonderful time there with your family! Have a cinnamon roll at the food court for me! Yum!

We've also stayed at the CB resort, and really love it! I think it depends on where you stay - take a look at the resort map and see about asking for one of tbe buildings a little coser to the main building. Some of the ones far out are...well...faaaaaaar out there! But it is beautiful! We've also stayed at the POFQ and loved it as well, but it's totally different.

Welcome welcome Roundbo! We're so glad to have you here and we can't wait to hear all your tips and faves about Disney!

I echo what ChipnDale fan and others have said - CBR is great! We were fortunate enough to land a pirate room a couple of months ago - so cute! The beds are shaped like little boats, and there are lots of neat touches. I LOVE LOVE the hammocks around the grounds, and their are really lovely walks along the water. The pool is awesome, too! I think you'll be pleased.

Have yo made any ADRs yet?

I just remembered... the first time we stayed on Disney property was there. I dont remember too much of it except for the pool. Thats about it. Its one of the ones that I would love to go back to so I can remember it better. I spent a lot of time in the arcade room. Played TONS of Street Fighter 2!

13 and 16 sound like a fun age to take them. Weill you be letting them do their own thing, or stay with you the whole time?
