Just wanted to officially say hello & get my feet wet in this forum...
My hubby & I & our twin daughters are planning a trip to WDW in October. Super exciting! We're meeting up w/ my brother & his family - they're from Kc, MO & we're from Buffalo, NY. This will be my 3rd trip & my girls' first time 
Really looking forward to this gaining lots of useful info from this site before hitting Disney this fall!
Ok, one more thing, when browsing the forums, I'm seeing lots of abbreviations... some of them I get - PO (port orleans), DTD (downtown disney- i think?)... but I saw some in the meet up forum that I had no idea... F & W? and a long one... MS something or other
did anyone do a list of common abbreviations on here so that some of us newbies (namely me ) will be in the know?

to WDWFG, you will really love it here and there is lots of info to share. We have others from the Buffalo area and I am sure they will make themselves known. As far as abbreviations go just for a start F&W is for Food & Wine festival coming to Epcot in Oct. and part of Nov. (a really great event ) and you will be there for it 
In a nutshell it is a food and wine tasting event in the world showcase area of Epcot where you can purchase smaller sized portions of dishes and wine from different countries around the world, all of which are NOT usually found in WDW. Again welcome.
We don't have a compendium of acronyms, but maybe we could make one. In the meantime, the long 'MS' one was likely MNSSHP - Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, a Halloween party for kids of all ages where costumes are encouraged. It runs for from mid September through just after Halloween. For many adults, including locals and cast members, this is their favorite special event of the year.

Food and Wine is great fun if you can go! You can get all the details at the Disney Food Blog. Because it's happening throughout Epcot, you can just stop by and enjoy -- you don't have to schedule it all that much.
Also, hopefully you'll be able to check out Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween Party in the Magic Kingdom if you're going in October! Such a fun night. Have you been before?
The only other "MS" acronym I know that's in the consciousness right now is the MSEP -- Main Street Electrical Parade. This is a historical parade and it's just been announced that it will be staying at WDW indefinitely!
