Hi! Going in 11 days

Hi! I just love this board. My husband won a trip through his work and we be staying SSR for three nights Feb. 9-12. We will get a ticket for one day at a park, we have been to all parks with our kids. We can't decide which for to see for about 6 hours??? We will not be riding rides. I can hardly wait, not like a free trip to Disney! Will this be a busy time of year?

Hi and welcome! A free trip to WDW? You can't beat that! In my opinion, if you only have time to do one park and you're not planning on riding any rides, my suggestion would be EPCOT. You can spend the day wandering around and exploring all of the different countries of World Showcase. There's so much to see and do there. Of course, you can't go wrong with a day at the Magic Kingdom either. Its a tough choice.

Hi CJCruiser and welcome! We're so glad you're here! And wow! A free trip! That is so exciting.

I second what Kris said - Epcot would be my choice. It's my favorite park anyway, but to me, it's also the park that provides the most "grownup" experience. You can take in a delicious meal, shop, enjoy a cocktail, and some international flavor. It sounds like it will be just you and hubby - is that the case?

Do you have any terrific meals planned? What do you like to eat? We're full of food suggestions here if you need ideas!

Will you be doing other things while in Central FL, since you're only doing the parks one day? Need suggestions there?

HI CJCruiser and welcome! I third Kris and Lizzie's suggestion of Epcot.

I consulted the crowd patterns in my Birnbaum Guide and the week you are going is listed under "Average Attendance" ("refers to times when there are a lot of people around, but lines are relatively manageable").

I'm sure there are folks on this board who have been there during this time to give you a better idea of the crowds, but I think you will be ok.

Congratulations on the free trip!

OKay so I do not have a lot of info as this was a last minute change of location. My husband works in the wholesale liquor business. The trip is from a supplier. The trip was billed as 4 days in South Beach, lots of R&R, with spa visits, fishing, golfing, great meals, etc. Their was some confusion with the reservation and so Friday (1-27-12) we were told the trip had to be changed, and that we were going to Disney. I am fine as I love Disney and who can complain about a free trip. The only info I have so far is plane tickets, hotel, I did get to pick a spa treatment for Friday morning. We have a cocktail party and dinner Thursday but I do not know where. There are activities that we could pick from for Friday Morning so I do not know about the rest of Friday. On Saturday we were told to pick a park ticket, golfing, fishing trip or the driving experience. We choose the park ticket, we did not have to pick a park. Do not know about anything else on Saturday, but most likely will be some type of dinner. They are giving us Disney money cards to take care of all meals and expenses. It is not the dinning plan but Disney money of some sort. That is about all I know. I am looking forward to 4 days away, we are from Austin, Texas. It does feel strange to go to Disney without the kids.

Woo! Can we come visit Austin while you're gone? I need to hit Trudy's, Homeslice and also some barbeque.

I think Epcot is a good choice, but you also might consider Animal Kingdom. It's fun to just wander around and look at all the great theming. But there's a ton of stuff to do in Epcot without riding a ride too.

How much fun does that sound!! I think that you're going to have a fantastic time. I mean, you'll be at DIsney, how could you not?! I agree with Brad, I would probably do EPCOT if I only had six hours. Maybe Magic Kingdom if I needed to visit the Pirates.

Have a fantastic time!

Welcome cjcruiser! Going to Disney without kids is great. You'll have a ball. If you want a great meal, try the Turf Club at SSR. Its great, Ask for Houda as your waitress if she is there. We just ate there 1/21/12 and had a fabulous meal. Try the Espresso Tort w/port wine ice cream for dessert. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! awesome
