Hi!! I'd like to know you better!

I am really loving being a member of WDWforgrownups! I just thought I'd share that.

Anyway, I know a lot of you have been around for awhile and I've been picking up bits and pieces of you on the boards ..like LifeisforLiving could probably fashion a leg brace out of a paper clip and a duck tape.

I was wondering if we could use this thread to tell each other a little bit about ourselves! I think this is one of the most interesting collections of people I've seen on a forum and I'd just like to know yah better Smile

Feel free to ignore me if you think this idea is a bit nuts.

Anyways, I'm Bella. I have a husband (The Dave) and a son (Holden). I'm a 2nd/3rd grade teacher from South Carolina. Other than Disney I love cupcakes, margaritas and sewing. I hate mushrooms..even though that's been established and talking on the phone.
I hated Epcot for about ten years and refused to go there. My DH loved it as a kid and insisted we go back..it took me about three trips to the World to give in. Ironically I got engaged at Epcot.
And I've just recently cancelled my DirectTv. I'm a TV junkie so this was major for me Smile

Cool thread! I'm 32, married, and my husband calls me a "comfort monkey!" I'm not sure if that's 100% true (I've been camping many times...come on!!), but I DO often have champagne tastes on a wine cooler budget Wink

No kids right now, but they'll be coming along sooner than we're ready for them, I'm sure!

Um.... let's see... you'll most often see me in black v-neck t-shirts (it's like a uniform for me...slimming!), I never wait longer than 20 minutes to ride anything at WDW (and if I do, I skip that ride for a while!), and my weakness is plain hershey bars. I know -- boring -- but classic!!

I like this thread...though it is making me feel young as always. I tend to always be the youngest in every group I am in.

I am 23, my husband is teacherdrama (Jason) on here. I have a degree in publishing, but I mostly look for a job.

Other than Disney, I love sports, reading, crafty things (cross stitch, scrapbooks, sewing my first dress next month), musical theater, and so many other things!

I love board games too. If anyone knows games like Ticket to Ride, Settler of Catan, Dominion, ect we found a site where you can play online. I also found an Apples to Apples online that could be fun!

What else about me...I love Harry Potter a little too much. I enjoy drinking, sadly I like Ketel One and Glenlivet, but can only afford the Smirnoffs and...well, no scotch. Sad

And, like most people on the board, I love food, especially at Disney!

Brad, 36. I don't watch much TV, although we pay a lot for cable. I do like to watch sports though so I have to keep my cable. We also rent a lot of TV on DVDs.

I'm caitiesus's husband, my name is Jason. I'm 32, a 7th/8th grade language arts teacher, and I wish we had more money than what a teacher and not yet working publishing major has so that we can spend more time in Disney World. To be fair, we are also fond of cruises. I am also an aspiring novelist - I've written 1.8 novels so far (finishing the second one within the next couple of weeks!) and have had a couple of short stories published. I would love to be able to be a full time writer, though I admit I'd miss my students.

Aside from Disney, I like reading, musical theater, movies and television (was Lost obsessed, searching for the next obsession), puzzles and games, poker, and cooking.

I'm also very sarcastic and witty. Yes, you read that right. I'm witty.

You ARE witty.

Don't you hate when you have to find a new obsession because a bunch of suits decided to get rid of yours... or JK Rowling as the case may be?

Geez, so far this thread makes me feel old and normally we are the young ones of the group. I am 49, soon to be 50, and Mrhub just turned 49. We have been married almost 31 years. We have two boys both married and one grand daughter. We have a pug named Mister which our boys swear is far more spoiled than they ever were lol.
Needless to say, we both love Disney. We both also spend a lot of time on our computers. We both spend a lot of time playing games on line. Right now I am playing Mafia Wars on Facebook and Mrhub is playing Star Trek. We do have cable and lots of tvs in the house but watch very little. We are working on painting our basement but so far it has been a very slow process.
Mrhub works for our local police department and works a rotating shift. That makes projects slow going depending on the shift he is on. I work for a small local gas company. I am Judy and Mrhub is Mark.

I'm Jess and I'm 25 and from New Jersey- about 15 minuntes from Manhattan. I'm a third grade teacher during the school year and a Pre-K camp teacher in the summer. I love my jobs! I try to find a way to bring some Disney into them all- my desk set is snow white and the seven dwarves and my writing board this fall will be "minnie" tips for magical writing!

As for interests, I'm not a TV person. I've only ever watched three shows consistanly in my whole life. One was Lois & Clark New Adventures of Superman, my absolute biggest addiction ever was the X-files, and now I watch TrueBlood since I've read the novels.

I read constantly (anyone have a shelfari.com account?) and I post my books online in case anyone wants an opinion if they are thinking of reading any. Faves include Harry Potter Series, I capture the Castle, Memiors of a Geisha, Pride & Prejudice, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, and a million others. I love to write on the side and have 2 poems published but they aren't anything great - it's more of a hobby. I am trying to get into writing children's books though!

I hate planes and drive everywhere- Cali, Vegas, Fla. So much more to see and experience!

No, totally not serious. Not sure I was even born yet. Was just being a geek, and that is one of my favorite random interweb videos ever.

I'm a pretty private person, but let me see if I can think of some things you don't already know. DW and I don't have an abundance of time for hobbies but there are a few things we make time for. Number one is hockey. We have season tickets on the glass for our local team. Said team, the Hershey Bears, is the greatest franchise in the history of the league. They hold many of the all-time records including most championships - they won the last two for a total of eleven. I've watched hockey most of my life, but growing up there wasn't anywhere to play in Southern California. So I have just recently started learning to play. Skating is great fun and is something DW and I enjoy doing together. We also enjoy ballroom and swing dancing (though we don't have time for either at the moment). We don't have much time for TV, but with the DVR we are able to keep up with out favorite shows. There are a few others, but we really love Chuck and Scrubs (old cast, haven't kept up with the new one).

OK, I'll jump on this cool thread!

I'm Millie - soon to be 53 - don't feel that old though!! DH, Kluski, is turning 50 next weekend - heheheh!! eek I promised him, no surprises this decade...got him good for 30 and 40!! His "gift" this year is to go to the NC Transformus Festival (think Burning Man East)...his business card reads "Experimentalist" as his title...he loves music and art...if we had the space I could totally see him doing funky art sculptures made from reclaimed junkyard materials.

I'm more mainstream in my creative interests, have dabbled in painting, hope to do more when I have more free time. I also am into needle arts...done counted thread needlework for years but I'm starting to get into knitting more...it's a little easier on the eyes. I also enjoy bird watching, gardening, puzzles, cooking, and reading...and yes, I have a GoodReads account.

We both have a few favorite shows on TV - House, Fringe, Lie to Me, and I'm really addicted to HGTV...LOVE Sarah's House. Her projects are beautiful. I love good design, although, the homes/projects are much larger than I would need. I fantasize about living in a Tumbleweed Tiny House...I've been downsizing over the last 5 years and I have to say it feels really good to not have as much "stuff"...that said, Disney Pins don't take up much space at all.

We both love Disney, DH was a P/T photopass photographer when we lived in Orlando...F/T job is as a 5th grade teacher, hmmm, there are a lot of teachers on this board! I'm a university research administrator. Our love of Disney started when we honeymooned at WDW, pre HS and AKL. We both love how the "outside world" disappears while we're at Disney...that's what vacation is all about!!!

We have 3 furkids, a chihuahua, a mini doxie and a silver tortoiseshell kitty - she adopted us last year after someone abandoned her when they moved away...grrrrrrrr

We are celebrating our 22nd anniversary in November and starting to think about what we want to do for the 25th. I used to want to go to Paris but leaning more towards Hawaii...especially since Disney is building a DVC there. The other idea we're tossing around is a trip to the west to see the National Parks....may not do it for our 25th but will definitely do it someday.

I used to really be into tent camping but have tired of the setup and tear down so we're starting to look to get a small travel trailer for comfort and convenience. There are so many places we'd like to see and camping makes it much more affordable...plus we can take the furbabies with us as long as we have A/C for them. I can see us on the road almost every weekend when we don't have to pack up all the gear and load it in the truck...just backup to our "home on wheels", hitch up and GO!! Going to go look at an rPod tomorrow...not ready to buy yet, but I'd like to see one and decide if it's big enough, yet small enough...we're looking to keep it a manageable size and not hugely expensive to tow.

I'm working on losing weight and eating healthier...so I can have many more Disney Dreams come true!! Lost 25 lbs so far with more to go. Our trip in November is going to be so much more fun being lighter on my feet!! clapping

OK...I guess that's me in a nutshell...I enjoy living a simple life. Home, family and Disney!! That's all I really need laugh

I'll jump in here too, and talk a bit about myself, as if anyone cares! silly

I live in Buffalo, NY. We haven't lived here long, but we absolutely love Western New York.

Obviously, I'm a lifelong Disney nut, and have been so since I think, 1976, when I was seven years old. I'm a former Cast Member and actually interviewed for, and was offered, another job with Disney last year, which I turned down. I'm a DVC member, Disney stock holder, D23 member, Disney pin collector, etc. I try to get involved in all Disney aspects, though, like most of you I'm sure, some things excite me more than others.

Other than Disney, my big passion is Italy and all things that involve Italy. The culture, the language, the people, the cuisine; I'm an honest to goodness Italophile. I have family there and I try to visit once every five years or so. I am fluent in the language, and am contemplating going back to school to graduate with a degree that would allow me to teach Italian.

Otherwise, I'm your average dude I guess. I like sports, movies, music and TV to an extent. I'm happily married with no kids, but two cats who are like kids to us!

Hi Brad!! Time will tell...this will be his first trip to Transformus...he's working on "trinkets" to give away and barter with. He has connected with a bunch of folks online and is looking to hookup with a group when he gets there. He's pretty young at heart and musically very experimental so this will be his kind of thing...mine, not so much silly That said, I'm hoping to get my travel trailer in a year or so and then will tag along in my "comfort capsule" awesome

Hey Millie,

So many Western NYers have transplanted to the Carolinas. I know what you mean about the winters, but last year wasn't bad, and in fact, Philly, NYC and Baltimore got more snow than we did. I know it was a freak thing, but I'd like to think it's the start of a trend.

Ah the wings. It's almost hard to get a bad one here. The most nondescript corner sub shop or pizzeria has great wings. Of course, then there are the legendary places, like Anchor Bar, and Duffs, and Charlie O'Brien's, and Elmo's, and....

Hey MillieHubbard I'm in SC! I'm actually less than 10 minutes from the SC boarder. Do you think it's hot enough here after the cold snowy winter we had? Goodness.

It's been a "tad" warm I'd say. After being in the south for over 4 years now I am getting used to the warmer temps...I probably wouldn't make it in the North for a full winter anymore. We do go up for Christmas but not to Rochester...Long Island is much warmer than Rochester...usually by about 20 degrees.

I think I must have known you in a past life wink

Ha ha. You know, I'd been away from WDW for Grownups for a while, and when I came back the other day, I saw some of your posts. It took me about 2 seconds to realize it was you because of your writing style and sense of humor. Then of course when I saw that you posted about Holden and The Dave it removed all doubt.

I was going to write you to let you know it was me, I just wasn't sure if I should do it on here or on Facebook! laugh
