Hollywood and Vine...call from Disney

Hi All,
I was just wondering if anyone else has received a call from Disney regarding your dinning reservations for Hollywood and Vine Fantamsic package? I got a call yesterday (at the 42 day mark) telling me that Hollywood and Vine have changed their dinning options. And that they are now doing character dinning for their dinners. And that I would need to change my reservation as because now that would cost 2 TS or 69.00 a person. I told them I don't have 2 TS left as I did all my dinning reservations at 180 days out. Maria (disney rep) said I could give up one of my other 'cheaper' reservations to keep this one. I said no I can't and now that am 42 days out (now 41 days out) where am I going to get dinning reservations at Hollywood Studios on Saturday May 17 (1st weekend of Star Tours). She said I can help you with that. I said ok tell me what you can do. She said I can get us into 50's Prime for 4:30. I said sorry that isn't happening I may be a senior citizen (65) but I still like to have my dinners after 6. So she said well I can't get you in for 6. So I said ok but is this a fantasmic package? She said that it isn't listed that way but there is a note on my reservation that says this is a Fantasmic package. So I took it (but really what choice did I have) and I will keep my fingers cross that it is a Fantasmic package.

Wow - I would be upset. If it were me, I would call back today to 1) confirm everything and 2) let them know how displeased you are about the trouble and Disney's inability to get you in for a dinner at the price you booked at for the time you booked at.

Kristen...don't worry I have it on my list of calls for today. But my other concern is at 180 days out we (me and my girlfriend) wanted 50's Prime but we couldn't get it has the Fantasmic package so now all of a sudden I can get it and get a 6:00 seating, really? I better not have to wait 1 hour to be seated! And it also concerns me that there is no where on this reservation now that says it is a Fantasmic package so it better still be! Something doesn't seem right to me. To me people who had previously made their reservations should not have to pay more for the privilege of eating there because they have changed something. You should be 'grandfathered in'.

I agree about the grandfathering and I'm actually pretty shocked that Disney called and did this.

Well I just got off the phone with another Disney dinning rep and it is the same thing yuck yuck..saying that yes 50's Prime is not on the Fantasmic package but she does see there is a note about us being moved from Hollywood and Vine so the voucher should move with us (not feeling warm and fuzzy here) and as far as the 6 pm she was a little surprised that the 6pm time was still available as well but she does see we have that time (again not warm and fuzzy feeling). Am so very disappointed.

It does seem like the character dining for Star Wars was thrown together very last minute. I understand wanting to wait to announce the dining options, but those restaurants should have been blacked out at 180 days to avoid this situation. Don't get me wrong, I'm very excited that we were able to get in for the character dining, but it's not right that people who were already booked are having to change their plans. I could see Disney calling you and alerting you that the experience had been changed in case you hate Star Wars or something, but to force you to pay more for something you had no interest in signing up for or move, especially at 42 days, is insane. Certainly the breakfast at Sci-Fi isn't causing the same issues because they don't serve breakfast regularly.

I know that it's annoying, but try and look at the bright side. You're in at 6pm in your original choice restaurant. awesome
I'd call again right before the trip to double check that voucher one more time, but I'm paranoid like that.

Yes am glad that we are getting our original restaurant 50's Prime am just very concerned about the Fantasmic Package that we will still have it and that when we check in around 5:50 that we do not have to wait an hour before we get seated. Although all this is out of my hands so I will take a deep breath and hope for the best as that is all I can do. Except to say this wasn't right...see am not good at letting go. yuck

That does really suck Kathys. They probably had cancellations and thats why they were able to get you into 50's. You can check 15 minutes prior to your reservation also.

Mrhub...Yes I will check in 15 minutes prior to my reservation but what if there is no voucher for Fantasmic? There will be nothing I can do about that. I understand Disney can make changes but people who have already booked this should be left alone. To me it seems to be all about the money (not that am sure it wasn't before). And just like no offers for free dinning yet this year (I'm thinking they won't offer that) it is about the money and the need to pay for the Avatar area and Disney Springs. Still I love going to Disney but they need to remember without me (us) there would be no Disney. They need to take care of us. But I do know it isn't just Disney it is all companies. Again sad.
