How Do You Check for New Messages?

I worry sometimes that the software here is keeping everyone from seeing all the new messages. So I can figure out what improvements (if any) are necessary, I was wondering how you guys check messages? I always go to quick links and just go through the unreads, I'm curious if that's what you guys do.

I get the email alerts on my Blackberry.

When I log in I check the non-read messages in the subscribed category, and then the new messages in the not-subscribed.

Just about every one I have interest in or post in I subscribe to.

Is there anything about the email alerts you can think of to improve?

System works for me, Brad. I go up to the little "quick links" in the right hand corner and click unread messages. Works perfectly.

I use the link for unread posts and then open the threads in new tabs.

I actually think the Unread Message screen with the "First Unread" link is my favorite way to read a board. I'm not sure it would work as well if there were a lot of threads here I wasn't interested in, but since I read pretty much the whole board it's really convenient.

Looks like the good news is that in SOME form or another what you're doing works for EVERYBODY!!
