How is January?

I am planning my 40th bday celebration at WDW Jan 2-11, 2014. I would love any feedback from anyone who has been the first part of January. Pros and cons would be greatly appreciated.

It is cool but not horrific. We went the end of Jan about 3 yrs ago and it was 27 degrees and EXTREMELY windy, so it felt colder than it was......UGH!

Hello Disneydreamer & welcome to our Happy Place! We go every year in January. We have always been lucky (knock on wood!) and had great weather but Florida weather can change drastically during the winter months. We take some jeans and a jacket just in case, but pretty much always end up wearing shorts during the day. The night can get chilly and you might need to change into something a little warmer, but it's a great time to be in WDW. Just watch out for the "Tour Groups"! If you see them, run the other way!.

Okay, so I haven't been in January myself for many years. What I do know about January is that on Marathon Weekend two years ago it was below freezing and there was light snow flurries for the early morning runners. Many of the gift shops sold out of seats and long sleeved shirts. It was so cold, lizards were falling out of trees. Seriously. Last year it was still below freezing overnight, but there wasn't the precipitation and the lizards were just fine.

Just be aware that early in the morning and super late at night it can get down right frigid without that Florida Sun.
Also, it's almost always windy around World Showcase Lagoon, be sure to be prepared for nights there.
