How Much Do You Dislike Crowds?

Ohhh and crowds and I do not get along!
That F&W picture made me sad for you guys!!

It occurred to me I never get to try the great snacking food at F&W because we leave as the crowds start coming in and I don't like waiting in long lines. Between J hatred for crowds and my ADD and avoidance of standing in long lines we have never really "experienced" F&W. Even though we have been there for it that last 3 years. I could never understand why it was so great. Then again we don't drink so we never went from kiosk to kiosk wine tasting. This year we are trying to avoid the crowds from F&W, Thanksgiving and Christmas and landed up in Pop Warner week. One time we tried May and it was love bug season. Goldielocks here will find the right time of the year eventually. Not too hot, not too cold, not crowded, no love bugs, etc. hopefully

I am not a crowd person either. I have a problem with people getting in my space....people in check out lines in grocery stores who keep moving their carts closer and closer. I hope I picked the right time of the year to go - October. If not I will be like angel444 and keep trying until I find the perfect time (if there is one!)

I dont mind crowds I mind rude people that seem to prevail in crowds.

I don't mind crowds. Crowds can be fine. It's when people are absolutely unaware of themselves in a crowd that it becomes an issue!

I'm kinda with Cookie...I don't mind crowds either. Since I travel to the World alone, I sort of enjoy the comraderie, and lots of folks around to chat with and observe. The crowds also lend to the excitement. But I must say that my feelings about crowds are much different now than they were when I was schlepping around my four young kiddos, with NO Fastpass....

And during the F&W, there is a HUGE crowd, and rude, obnoxious DRUNK people everywhere! It definitely has more of a bar feeling in the evening. Fun for a while, but gets old!

We get out of school around June 26th or 27th each year so I'm very accustomed to crowds and they don't bother me so much as they are just the way things are when I go!

We have gone during Thanksgiving and just recently for New Years. I thought celebrating New Year's Eve at MK for my niece's and a family friend's first trip to WDW would be memorable. WOW!!! Talk about a crowd at MK for New Year's Eve!!! Never again! At least we can say we did it once. I could post this in the what I would not do again at WDW section. We were told that MK sold out their walk-up tickets earlier than on Christmas Day!! I agree with the others - crowds are tough to deal with, but rude people make the situation even worse. However, the crowds on the days right after Christmas and prior to the 31st were not that bad for that timie of year.

This is my only crowd complaint, too. I think navigating crowds is like driving; you must be aware of your surroundings and be a bit defensive, looking out for those who are not paying attention. I know that folks are mostly just not paying attention and most are not in anyway malicious, but I've gotten clocked by bags, strollers, and even whole people who just didn't pay attention. The worst are those that stop dead in the middle of walkways, paths, etc. and cause pile-ups.

Defensive walking. . . It is sometimes a necessary skill!

I wish those people who stop dead in their tracks or decide to back up had the back up alarms that big trucks have so that you can skirt around them. HA HA HA!

We can handle crowds to a certain degree. Being passholders and having the opportunity to go often, we don't get bent out of shape if we can't get on Soarin' or some of our other favorites. We are content to walk around and take it all in. It never gets old to us, especially if we are in a park where we can enjoy a frosty beverage. We do, however, have a problem at Magic Kingdom when it's crowded mainly due to strollers. We realize they don't do it on purpose, but we have been "run over" by strollers on far too many occasions so we just give that park to the kids, if it's crowded, and go to another park. We also made the mistake of going to Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day a few years ago. Will NEVER do that again. It was scary crowded! This year we find ourselves going to Disney again on Christmas day but we are going to head to Epcot this time and have lunch at Via Napoli, walk around a bit, then head back home. I know it will be crowded but since we have an ADR, hoping we can handle the rest and hoping it won't be as bad as MK a few years ago.

My very favorite days in the parks are rainy days.
Last year we were at Epcot for a record rain in January and MK at Disney Land for a record rain in October. Both days were awesome. We could walk right on to any ride we wanted!

Had one of those days at Animal Kingdom where the cast members at the Safari applauded because we actually showed up. Saw more animals than ever.

Oh....did I say I hate crowds?

Crowds are not my thing either, and the older I get, the less tolerant I get with them. We always go off season (Sept - early Dec) but for the first time, are going to the F&G this year, May 5 - 16. I did an itinerary without even going in on the weekend in hopes of avoiding the masses. I hope I am correct in what I have done, especially since my air is already booked.

We went for almost the same dates last May, and it was great. We also went in October, and we thought it was less crowded in May. If you are a rope drop person, you can accomplish a lot in the first 2 hours, and then relax and people watch, have lunch, etc. We like it so much, we're going back again for the first week in May this year.

It was crazy that day.
