I Can't Believe I Am Planning Already!

Okay, so this is the fun part! Planning the itinerary! I need help mickey

Here's what I got so far:

We're driving and my grandma will be going down with CJ, me and the 3 kids. My grandma is only going to stay until Monday, then she will fly home. On Monday, Fawn (MIL) will be arriving as well as Cherie (my BFF) - they will not be on the same flight. Fawn is coming from Ohio, Cherie from Pennsylvania.

Arrive Friday 4/30 - check in at BLT (OhmygawdBLT!) is not until 4pm so we'll have time to get any groceries we need etc...
Since grandma will be with us, we want to take things at as slow pace.

After checking in and getting settled, go to 1900 Park Fare for dinner (we LOVED it last time we were there) then back to the resort to relax and watch Wishes from our balcony!

Saturday, May 1
Relax - have breakfast in the room, go to the pool, just spend the majority of the day at the resort. Go to Epcot late afternoon - Biergarten for dinner (grandma will love it), hang around Epcot and watch IllumiNations.

Sunday, May 2
Relax - have breakfast in the room. Go to MK, have a late lunch at Cosmic Rays (CJ LOVES this place!)
Later dinner at Kona Cafe (Poly) - I chose Kona over Ohana's because grandma has never eaten at Kona but has eaten at Ohana's.
Wishes Cruise - I really want grandma to experience this. We did it this last trip and loved it!

Monday is going to be crazy - probably will just be a resort day because grandma leaves and Fawn and Cherie arrive. I'd like to eat dinner at a resort restaurant we've never eaten at.

I know Monday is a wash but I look at it as down time. The rest of the week needs to be planned. I'd like to go to HS and AK - I'd actually like to see the fireworks at HS - this last trip they didn't have them the night we were there waiting

Congrats on your planning! Those look like some great, slowish days for grandma. Perfect.

What resort restaurant are you considering for Monday?

Boma can be good for meals like that. Have you eaten there?

Great idea to watch Wishes that first night! What an amazing way to "break in" your new DVC membership!

I thought they'd be okay days for her. Not too much 'running around.

I don't know where to eat on Monday - I wanna visit a resort I've never been to. I always say I want to check out the other resorts but it never happens.

We've been to eat at:
Poly
Contemporary
Wilderness Lodge
Grand Floridian

I really like your idea of eating at Yacht and Beach Club (that you mentioned in the other thread). Such beautiful resorts, and right near Epcot!

I haven't been to any Epcot resorts and would LOVE to visit them!

I think this is a great idea, too. Epcot resorts are so beautiful, and you guys can play games on the Boardwalk and take the boat to DHS after you're done. Remember, too, that Kouzzina just opened (Cat cora's place) on the Boardwalk. This might be an interesting thing for your family to try. The kids menus look good too. Grandma might really like this one.

Okay - I've tweaked this a bit. I am ditching the Wishes Cruise. As much as we loved it last year and as much as I really wanted grandma to experience it, ummm, WE HAVE A MK VIEW AT BLT! yay What was I thinking! We don't need no stinking $320 cruise! laugh

So, here's the revamped version:

Friday, April 30th:

Arrive, check in, relax - go to BC for dinner at Cape May Cafe (what time do you think is good? Check in isn't until 4 pm, hopefully we'll luck out, but if not, how much time do we need to get from BLT to BC and what is the best mode of transportation?)

After dinner, check out BC - what about DHS? How far is it from BC - DHS? Maybe we'll luck out and be able to catch fireworks there? Or can you see IllumiNations from BC? if not, back to BLT to see Wishes from our room muchlove

Saturday, May 1st

Breakfast in the room, relax, enjoy BLT and the pool. Take a nap? laugh Go to Epcot in the evening, dinner at Biegarten (for grandma) and stay for IllumiNations.

Sunday, May 2nd

Breakfast in the room, relax, visit MK. Lunch at Ray's Starlight Cafe. Dinner at 1900 Park Fare GF. Definitely watch Wishes from the room.

Monday, May 3rd

Grandma leaves, Cherie and Fawn arrive. Down time day while all this goes on.
Go to the Boardwalk. We've never been there and it seems like it'd be fun to check out in the evening. Tell me about the fun stuff we can do - where should we eat. Keep in mind we'll have 3 kids with us.

This is as far as I ahve gotten.

laugh You're so right! Save that $320 to pay off the DVC -- you've got your own Wishes cruise every night! wink

Cape May Cafe tends to get a bit crowded around dinner time, so I'd suggest an early dinner (this is just my preference, but it also gives you plenty of time to get wherever you need to for fireworks watching that night).

Best way IMHO to get from BLT to BC is by car. That way you can park right at the Beach Club. If you don't want to take the car, walk over to Magic Kingdom and get the bus to BC. Monorail to Epcot then walking to BC would be my least favorite option -- that's a LONG walk through Epcot for Grandma.

DHS is a 20 minute boat ride from BC/YC. You can also walk, but, again, it's a longish walk for Gram. You CAN'T see Illuminations from BC (just the tippy tops of the fireworks), so I would suggest either walking into Epcot (the walk from BC into Epcot is about 5 minutes) for those, or just waiting until your Biergarten night.

Thank you so much for the information - you have been very helpful!

I know we'll arrive early enough on our first day, it's just that check in isn't until 4 so worst possible scenario is that we don't get in our room until 4ish. Now, I can throw the food in the fridge and toss my luggage on the floor to hurry out to get to an early inner but the MK view might mesmerize me laugh

Maybe we will drive, we will have a vehicle. Do you think 5-5:30 pm is early enough?

Yep! I'd say that's fine. Most restaurants don't star serving until 5 for dinner I think.

I agree that that MK view is going to mesmerize you guys! So cool.

(Also, posted a bird's-eye view of the Epcot resorts on another thread for you; that'll help with "bearings")
