It's Cold AGAIN Today

I thought this was going to be over soon but it's cold outside again. I know that might not seem like a big deal in January but we don't usually stay cold for this long. Last winter was colder than usual too. I wonder if this is a new trend. I'd like to vote against it if I get a choice. How's the weather for everyone else?

I live in England, it's cold at least 9 months of the year here. So no sympathy, sorry wink

Bright sunshine and 25 degrees at noon BUT it's supposed to get down to 10 BELOW Zero tonight, and snow is predicted for tomorrow AGAIN!!! But what do you expect from NH in Jan.

Up and down and back and forth in Central FL. We haven't had another really cold snap (we've had about 4 so far) lately, but even going out and it's 51 and by afternoon it's 78 can be tough to prepare children for - dressing them, I mean. Removable layers mean lost clothes!

I realize I'm going to get about as much sympathy as Julia Roberts did in that dinner scene in Nottting Hill, when she was vying for the brownie wink

50 in Charlotte today but that cold is coming our way and next week is going to stink! It sure gets colder here than I eas expecting. I noted it was to be in the upper 70's in Orlando, which nearly made me cry.

Lizzy, I will gvie you a little bit of sympathy - it was hard for us 2 adults to figure out what to wear in December when we were there because it was in the 40's in the am and upper 70's by afternoon. I can't imagine trying to account for that with kids.

But that's the extent of my sympathy....the rest is pure, unbridled jealousy. silly

Cold and wet here at the mo. I'd move to a warmer climate in an instant if it was reasonable possible for me to do so.

Yeah I don't think the job market in Greece is booming right now, eh?

Well, I'll take it. At least you aren't completely discounting my discomfort Smile DH says it's about to get cold here. I need to pay attention to the weather.

Ugh, it's better than the snowpocolpse that happened a few weeks ago but now it's windy & chilly. Granted it's between 45-55 degrees so it's not like..you know..bitter cold..but I like my warmth thankyouverymuch.

Hi,

I know that I'll get little sympathy here; but on Monday 1/24/2011, I walked to the train station on my way to work in a temperature of 7F (-14C) with -4F (-20C) wind chill. It wasn't bad, as I was bundled up, until I slipped and fell on the ice covering the curb cut at the first busy street I crossed.

Jim, who is snowbound yet again and his work is closed because of it.

Oh gosh, Jim -hope you're okay! It's bad enough to fall...but since you just had surgery, that makes it doubly bad!

Hi,

Thank you for your concern, Lizzy. I'm feeling good. I was more angry than hurt. Falling on the ice is literally a pain in the butt.

Jim, who is currently listening to the cd *Celtic Armadillo* by Off Kilter (the house band @ Epcot's Canada pavilion).

Glad to hear it. Yes, I remember lots of icy nastiness in my pre-Florida days. I am amazed at something I keep hearing on the news, though...and this seems as good a place to discuss as any. What's with all the "abandoning of cars" on freeways during snowstorms? I mean, growing up in WV, I've seen plenty of snow, and I've certainly seen lots of TV coverage of it...but suddenly people are getting marooned in traffic for hours, and they're just leaving their cars? Do I have a selective memory...or is this a new-ish phenomenon?
