The Kraken

Anyone ridden this? Is it worth going to Sea World? Review I read of the Kraken place it as a 'pretty good' steel coaster. Not sure that's worth spending a day at Sea World.

No idea. Are there any other headliners at Sea World (besides the twentieth iteration of Shamu, of course) that are big draws?

We try to visit Sea World at least once while we are in Orlando. We really enjoy it. It's a really nice atmosphere and the shows are very impressive. Yes, the Kraken is WELL worth the trip. A very good coaster! It's never been real crowded when we have been there too so I'd give it a shot.

I personally thought Kraken was great! It also isn't the only ride at Sea World. Journey to Atlantis is a totally cool water ride. I liked that even better than Kraken!

Besides those two rides, I enjoy the animal exhibits and the Orca & dolphin shows. They also have a stingray tank where you can touch the stingrays which is pretty cool.

I recommend spending a day there. While it isn't Disney, it is still something different and interesting to do!

I'm definitely thinking we put Sea World on our next itinerary. One or two times back we went to Universal Studios and IofA for the first time, and while it's certainly no WDW, it's fun to change it up and try something new.

I'd love to try the Kraken. I've got nostalgic seaworld memories from when I was a kid, though I've never been in Orlando.

Hi,

I've been to Sea World exactly once, on Sunday, October 15, 2000, but didn't ride Kraken. I understand that it's similar to Medusa at Six Flags Great Adventure, which I rode on Saturday, September 10, 1998. That ride made me very queasy; I kept looking for my stomach but couldn't find it.

Do you keep a journal of when you ride rides? Otherwise you have a very impressive memory!

That's actually a pretty fun idea. I would love to know how many times I've ridden Splash Mountain.

I think if I go to WDW this year, I'm making it a point to ride the Kraken!

I try and make it to seaworld once a trip (as long as I am on a longer trip). I am a huge marine life fan. Growing up I always wanted to be a marine biologist. My mother talked me out of it when I was looking for colleges by telling me I wouldn't be able to find a job and it wouldn't pay well. Anyway that is another story . . . I love taking a day to go to seaworld. If you go make ADR (not what they are called at seaworld but it is easier to say) for Dining with Shamu. The food is wonderful and you get to sit next the the tank and look at the whales. Then after diner the trainers will have the orcas do a few tricks for you to see while you are within feet of the tank.

Kraken is a great coaster. I always end up riding it a few times, because there never seems to be a line.

They have a new coaster now, manta, that I am eager to try.

Thanks for telling me about that event Sarah. I started a thread on it I thought it was so cool:

Dine with Shamu

The Manta looks a good bit tamer than the Kraken, but I'm getting a little fired up about Sea World now!

I think the Kraken is still the tallest coaster in Orlando, until the Rip Ride Rockit is done, which I think is soon.

I've always enjoyed Sea World. I haven't been to the one in Orlando, but it's on my radar. I've been to Sea World and Marine Land in California many times.
