Legends Cruise 2010

As many of you regular posters know, I was instrumental in putting together a Disney "Legends Cruise" for this summer. It featured Bob Gurr, Margaret Kerry, Michael Broggie, X Atencio and Terri Hardin.

Well, we never officially announced it, but the economy hit this thing at the exact WRONG time. Several months ago we had it at a point where it would at least break even, and then suddenly we had 13 cabins cancel in a couple of week period. Every single one giving "economic conditions" as the reason.

After much hand wringing and trying to decide where we were going with it, we decided there was no way we could put it together this summer and with everyone's blessing, we decided not to pursue it this year.

After talking with my partner today, it looks like the Legends Cruise will be rescheduled for next summer and will be changed slightly. We will not have a formal land portion of the cruise, but will keep the price rock bottom and do all events at sea. There may be some land stuff at Disneyland, but it will be optional.

So far, Michael Broggie, Margaret Kerry and Bob Gurr have all agreed in principle to the new plan.

We won't have any details for a few months, but I thought I'd pass it by you guys so you can pencil it in on your "brain calendars" in case you want to join us next summer.

I had wondered what had happened to that. It was originally going to leave from Florida, right? Or am I hallucinating?

Apparently. I was also thinking it went to London or something. Oh no wait, that's the dancing cruise?

The Dance Cruise was never official, as we couldn't get Virgin Atlantic on board as a sponsor. It really would have been a blast.

It was actually a land event at Disney, followed by a Disney Cruise for the dancers.

But that one involved the UK somehow, right?

It did. Darren & Lilia are on 'Strictly Come Dancing', which is Britain's 'Dancing With The Stars'.

It would have started in London and ended up on DCL.

Glad to know I wasn't completely making that up. Bummer about the Legends cruise, glad it sounds like it's still going to happen.

It may work out better this way. We're going to simplify it and keep everything on the ship. If there are land based events, they'll be by invitation only or as an option.

I think the Walt's barn portion will be missed, however I'm just glad it's going to happen at all biggrin

We discussed that today. We may do Walt's barn, but it will be an option so that we don't have to include it in the pricing. It would make it a lot simple if you basically started the package deal when you got to the ship.
