Liberty Tree at Magic Kingdom

Although I've been to Magic Kingdom literally dozens of times, recently, I discovered a brand new favorite spot. Over the Christmas holidays, we were in the park as night started to fall. Throughout Liberty Square, I noticed the lovely lantern-shaped Christmas lights, but I also notices the Liberty Tree and its lanterns. Now, I'm ashamed to say it, but I'm not quite sure I had ever noticed the lanterns before. Since I'm a sucker for candlelight, I immediately thought this was one of the prettiest things I had ever seen. I was so thrilled to see this feature last week about the Liberty Tree on Disney Parks Blog.

Any spots that you just gaze at, in awe of the beauty, at the parks?

I don't think I've ever paid attention to the tree before..I will have to this time.

I love that area as well..especially the part behind the Christmas store where you almost can't see the outside world. We've watched Wishes back there almost by ourselves before..it's wonderful!

I will have to check it out the next time I'm there.

I think it is so cool that the 13 lanterns represent the 13 original colonies.

Have you heard the story about Walt picking that tree himself? What a great story and how amazing they could save it!

I should add..before anyone goes back there and come back and wants to kill me..there is a big tree in the way..hence the small crowds..but you can still see most of it.

Ha - I'll take obstructed views for quiet and less crowded. Seems like a fair trade! Except I do love to see Tinker Bell do her thing...

While we wait to hear Scrappy tell the story of how Walt picked this tree himself, I thought I'd post this video, which Disney shared recently about the Liberty Tree.

I love that tree! I wish that they had talked about how the tree was moved to that spot. I know that there are pictures of the process someplace. It's a really beautiful tree and I adore the lanterns hanging from it.

Actually it is fashioned after the original liberty tree from rev war era, plus it is a highlight of the Disney movie Johnney Tremain.
