A Milestone Birthday!

On June 9, 1934, Donald Duck first appeared in the Silly Symphonies short "The Wise Little Hen". That means today is Donald's 75th birthday!

Happy Birthday Donald!

I've been seeing this all over the internet! Totally off topic, but someone (Main Street Gazette?) had a good post about how Donald is the Disney character most used by the US military (and in military cartoons). I thought that was interesting!

When's Daisy's birthday?

I just looked it up. Daisy first appeared in the short "Mr. Duck Steps Out" in 1940.

And yes, Walt Disney Studios really revamped their production during the war years to a more patirotic and military slanted style. And Donald was featured in a lot of these productions. Wikipedia has a pretty good, if not brief, entry on Wartime Donald.

including some very non-p.c. cartoons.
