monorail/bus times?

So on the Saturday we're leaving, we have a rental car reservation at 8 am at the Ticket and Transportation Center. We'll be at the Contemporary.

Will the buses or monorail be running then for us to get there?

Thanks!

Resort Monorails I believe start running one hour before MK opening. When you say you have a car reservation at the TTC, what does that mean? You can rent cars there?!?

Apparently -- it's the National rental on International Drive. Is that not at the TTC?

If the adress is on International Dr. You will find that it is quite a long ways away from WDW.

The sign next to the monorail in the Contemporary says it starts running at 7...not that it matters anymore...

You can always take a cab to the car rental place.

OOps - I was wrong (yes, Caitie, I was wrong).

It's at Car Care Drive. Can we use Disney transportation for THAT?

I think I was thinking of another place we were looking at (Because I can't imagine where else I would have gotten that name from!)

Thanks!

Nope. No Disney Transport there, but you can use a taxi like SpaceAce said. That's probably your best bet. There should be some waiting out front of the hotel, or you can have the valet stand call one for you. OR, call National/Alamo and see if they have a shuttle that can come pick you up biggrin

Let me stress that I could be completely wrong here so PLEASE check it out further but I think that the HESS gas stations at the following locations have car rental desks, 1- the station located within easy walking distance from the boardwalk Inn and, 2- the station located across the street from second set of bus stops at Downtown Disney Now I think they are National rental offices and I don't know why that sticks in my mind but it does so don't jump on me too bad if it proves to be wrong. If it turns out to be correct they could be very easy to reach with Disney transpotation.

Just curious, but did you check the rental rates at the airport compared to renting on site at Disney?

We didn't. We're looking to rent for the drive from Disney down to our cruise. Going back to the airport to get the car would take a lot of time, and we're looking to leave relatively early in the morning since we want to get down to Miami by 1 at the latest. It's just easier (even if it's a little more expensive) to rent at Disney.

Oh yeah! I remember when you guys were trying to figure out how to make that drive! So glad you're not taking the bus mickey

Will you leave the rental in Miami, then?

Yeah, that's the plan. It's literally just for the drive down - pick it up in the morning and 4 hours later drop it off. We're just concerned about getting the car in the first place since it all depends on the timing. Our travel agent suggested getting to the ship no later than 2. According to mapquest it's a 3 hour, 37 minute drive (though I always beat mapquest when driving under normal circumstances). Picking up the car at 8, that gives us a good two hour safety net for traffic, time getting from Miami airport to the port etc...
Let's hope!

Sounds like a good plan. And this way you won't be at the mercy of someone else's driving!
