Mother's Day with Max, Day 3

I left off after only 2 days. Sorry about that. I got distracted.....

Anyways, Day 3:

We started off doing Rope Drop at Epcot. Since we were coming in the back thru International Gateway, there was no way we were going to be the front of the crowd to ride Soarin' stand-by. They even gave us a couple minute headstart back there, but the distance is still pretty far to cover. So, we grabbed Fastpasses for it & then went over to Test Track. We were planning to ride Single Rider, but the Standby line said 10 Min. so we jumped in. It wasn't even that. We walked right into the briefing room & were loaded in a car immediatly. There was a Dad & his son being loaded in our backseat & the little boy was sad that he didn't get the front, so Max & I switched with them. I was glad to do it. We've ridden TT a zillion times. After TT, we went over & did Soarin'. People still clap at the end of it, I love that. I clap every time too. It's become my favorite attraction in the World. Haunted Mansion will always have a special place in my heart, but Soarin' is one I just can't miss. After Soarin', Max wanted to do Spaceship Earth again, so we headed that way. Holy Cow! The line was HUGE since it was first thing in the morning. So, we decided we better just get over to the Studios & grab ourselves a Fast Pass for Toy Story Midway Mania while we could.

It was already getting pretty hot, we hit 97 that day, as I recall. It felt every bit that 97 & then some. We took a s-l-o-w Friendship boat over. When we entered the Studios, I was given a carnation for Mother's Day. We headed straight back to Pixar Place to grab FPs. What a mobscene that area is! The street isn't that wide & it is just packed! Luckily, we still were able to get FPs, although the return time was 6:40-7:40 that night. This was about noon, so I figured we were just lucky to be able to get them. After we got our FPs, we went over to RnRC & rode single rider. Max got up near the front & I was in the back of the next limo. The back gets a little rough. I was wondering if I still enjoyed it or not. Love the speed, love the loops, didn't love the head banging so much. :lol After RnRC, I asked Max if he wanted to do ToT while I waited. He declined & we went over to do Star Tours instead. Max is a total Star Wars geek, so we HAVE to ride Star Tours everytime. That's ok with me, I really like that attraction. I guess I have a bit of Geek in me as well.

By this time, it was nearing 2:00 & we were hot & tired. So we caught a boat back to the Dolphin. We took a nap for an hour & cooled off in the wonderful air-conditioned, cloud-soft heavenly beds. :cloud9 Then I woke up & called Max to wake him up. He came over to my room & we turned on the tube while we figured out what to do next. Dinner wasn't til 9:30 & it was about 4:30. Max didn't want to do anything. I was miffed. We only had another half day in the Parks & another half-day in WDW before we went home. And it was Mother's Day! I finally got up, got my suit on & said "Fine, I'm going to the pool without you!" Then he said, "Oh all right" So while he got his suit on, I made us a couple Bluebird & Sevens. Then we went down to the pool. We were lucky & there was an open Cabana thing at the Cabana Bar & Grill. If you haven't seen these, they're big open cabanas with mattress beds with a big pillow pipe down the middle. We each grabbed a side & flopped. We decided to order some Jerk Wings. So we ate those & drank our Tropical Drinks. The jerk wings were delicious, nice & crispy. I wished there were more in the order tho, there were only about 6. Then, we both took a dip to cool off. Our drinks were almost gone, so I had Max order some Tuna Tartare Tostadas while I went & mixed another round of drinks. I made myself another Bluebird and Max a Coconut Rum & Mango juice. I got back to the Cabana just as the Tostadas arrived. They were delicious! We drank some more of our drinks & did some more swimming. I was getting a bit tipsy....ok, I was getting pretty good & tipsy. Max barely touched his second drink. So we decided to go get showered up & head to the Studios to use our FPs. We went up to the room & Max looked at the booze bottles & said "Mom! How much did you put in the drinks?!?" Apparently alot, I used a half bottle of coconut rum & a half bottle of Hpnotiq in 4 drinks! :thud No wonder I was feeling so happy. They were big cups :gigl

So, we my Tipsy self over to the Studios to ride TSMM. It was so much fun! What a great attraction. I would have rode it again, but the standby line was 70 min. No thanks! So we went back to RnRC & rode that. I think we had FPs, but I can't remember when we got those? Anyways, it was a Blast! I loved it more than I have since the first time I rode it! I was whooping & singing & having a grand old time. We got off & I told Max..."We GOTTA do that again!" He laughed & said "Are you sure?" I said yup & off we went. I could have rode that all night. RnRC is great fun when your drunk. :gigl After we rode it, I said "I'm drunk enough to do ToT" Max was skeptical. So I said, "Here, I'll take a Dramanine in case" He stopped me because he didn't want me to take dramanine with all the alcohol I had in my system. So we rode Star Tours again instead. Then we did some shopping & browsed Sid's for awhile. By then, it was getting late, so we figured it was time to head to Boardwalk for our dinner ressie.

We got to Spoodles just about 9:30 & were seated pretty quickly. There were still several tables of people, but it wasn't packed by that point. Max & I opted to do all appetizers & eat Tapas style. We ordered the Mussels with Chorizio in Saffron Broth, the Garlic Shrimp with Preserved Lemon, the Beef & Mushroom Flatbread and the Panzanella Salad with Fresh Mozzarella. Max ate most of the Mussels, since I'm not a huge mussel lover. I ate a couple tho & they were very good. The shrimp was fantastic too. I wasn't as wild about the Flatbread as Max was, but it was ok. We both agreed that the Panzanella was the best dish of the night. The mozzarella is freshly made & just amazingly creamy & delicious. The tomatoes were tasty & sweet & perfectly ripe, which we don't have up here yet. We were too full for dessert. The things we liked & would have ordered were frozen, so we couldn't take them to go. We did stop in Seashore Sweets tho to see if they had my Chocolate covered Marshmallows, but the closest thing they had was a S'mores bar. I bought it to nibble on later. Max didn't want anything. Then we decided to call it a night. The next day was our last & we didn't want to be too tired to enjoy it.

NOON and the FP return time was 6:30-7:30?!??! Oh dear. Had you ridden TSM before, Leota, or was this your first time? How did you score?

I know exactly what you mean about the RnRC being rough in the back--I cannot sit back there at ALL. I always get a headache and it ends up not being an enjoyable ride for me. Now I always make sure I get a seat in the front area of the car.

It's always tough when you want to go do something fun (especially when your vacation is almost over) and your companion just wants to hang out in the hotel room! Luckily, chilling out in a cabana doesn't sound like it was too much of a sacrifice for Max!

Spoodles dinner sounds wonderful. Too bad it'll probably be gone the next time I get back to the World... Sad

So did you wait 70 minutes to ride it the first time?

Okay, I have to ask: How do you make a Bluebird and Seven?

I suspect the TSMM line is much more acceptable with proper alcohol.
