New to the board...

Hello!

Been lurking for a bit, decided it time to man up and contribute to the conversations.

Bit of info...

Its myself (kristi) and my husband (mark), both of us are in a mid/late 30's. One son (matthew), he is 18 and has decided that taking vacation with his parents is no longer fun(even though he does not have to pay for anything confused).

We did our first trip to WDW in July 2010, and quickly learned we will not go back in the summer again. We leave on Sunday yay for a 7 day trip to WDW. We fell in love with POFQ, and will be staying there again. I am sure much to my hubbys surprise, I have already put a down on another trip in October, for the Food and Wine Festival.

We live in Socal (about 20 min from the DLR), have 2 dachshunds (which we race at least once a month), and that about sums us up!

Looking forward to meeting new people with the same love of WDW that I have achieved so quickly.

-Kristi

welcome to WDWFG, since you have been checking in, you know how friendly we all are around here. I am just curious about your racing Dachshunds, do you have little saddles and little teeny tiny jockeys for them laugh seriously i never realized that there were organized races except for greyhounds.. I also am jealous of your upcoming trip. Make sure you take plenty on pictures and tell us all about your trip. You will muchlove it here.

Welcome!! Tell your son I'll gladly stand in for him on the trip! laugh

What are your plans for this upcoming trip? Looking forward to hearing more.

You'll LOVE the Food & Wine festival, too!

Do you get to DLR often?

welcome KristiA, always glad to have another Disneyholic in the group! yay We just got back Jan 30th from WDW. DW and I had a great time, just haven't had time to do my trip report. Weather was a little cool, but it was better then here in PA.

DW (Scrappy) just said about a month and we can book our Oct trip for F & W Festival. We're going Oct 14 -23. Once again, welcome!

hello and welcome! I'm fairly new here myself...

I am in the San Fernando Valley.. about 45 min (without traffic that is) from DLR.. so I'm there quite a bit.
So maybe we'll run in to each other some time!

Food and Wine festival is awesome... my tip on that is.. plan 1 day on eating all your food at the festival. Every time I've gone, we always have reservations for every day we're there.. so we're usually full and we dont try as much as we'd like to at the festival!! (that will not happen this year I promise you! haha)

Go check out the photos pages.. you can get lost in there! I had so much fun look at them all!

Hi Kristi and welcome! We've stayed at the POFQ twice now and love it as well! Check out Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party in October - it costs extra but might be fun for you - we're doing it in September (again)!

And, we have a dachshund!! YAY! And are looking at adopting another one awesome

Looking forward to hearing more of your opinions, about your trips, and please, pics of those adorable dachshunds! (Love, love dachshunds.) mickey

Thank you for the warm greetings!

Vettelover - LOL about the saddles. There is a local "German Village" here and they do the races, on a straight away track, once a month, then in Sept/Oct. they are every weekend for Oktoberfest

Brad - We have premium passes for DLR since its so close. Love the place. It was my first job, and at times I wish I had never left.

Since our son is 18, and now we are no fun, the Dachshunds are out babies. I will post pictures. They are both longhair dapples. Our "big" girl (13.bs) is black/tan silver dapple and our "little" girl (9lbs) is black/cream sliver dapple.

I will report back on 2/21 about the trip. We get home on 2/19, late. And have Dachsund races on 2/20.

Hi Kristi! They're still waiting on me to contribute to the conversation, but I'm due to manage it any day now!

I'd love to live 20 minutes from a Disney park!

I didn't get a chance to say "Hi!" Also...I'm not that familiar with dachshund racing. How does that work? Is it pretty much what it sounds like? The cuteness could be overwhelming. Do you have pictures?

We had a dachshund who lived on a farm for the first year of her life before we adopted her. When she was young we had to be vigilant at all times because if she got loose outside she would run for HOURS. What was even more infuriating about it was she would make a game of it, so when you were trying to catch her she'd let you get just close enough you'd think you might catch her and then bolt. She was terribly fast. She had a stroke a little while back and we finally had to put her down, but even at the end when she could barely move we would take her out for a walk without a leash and she'd still bolt as far as she could down the street (but then she'd wait for you to catch her and carry her back home.)

Space Ace: sorry for the slow reply! They do run on a 30 foot long track. The races we do are at the local German Village. Its a ton of fun!

Brad - I am so sorry, I do know how I will handle it when it is time for our dogs.

Now that I am home, well work right now, I will post pictures.
